On our first visit to Lourdas we missed this place out, rather discouraged by some negative reviews. Gave it a go this time and were pleasantly surprised.

The chap who runs it is very pleasant, brought us a round of surprisingly decent ouzo after dinner. The food is good, no surprises in terms of menu or execution but all fine. Worth bearing in mind that the meze portions are large. Prices are slightly higher than in the other restaurants we tried, even those with better food, but Lourdas is very cheap to eat so we're talking a few euro.

Also does a limited but decent and well-priced breakfast.

We stayed very close to Zorbas restaurant last week and decided to visit twice during our stay despite there being no other customers at the venue on both occasions, and we assumed this was due to the hot weather during the afternoon. How wrong we were! At first the male waiter, who also appeared to be the owner asked what we wanted to drink. When we said a Large Methos beer to share with 2 glasses, he said what just 1 between you? And then tried to insist very rudely that we had to have one each! We then ordered a salad each, one caesar and one Greek and again we were faced with a challenge that we weren’t ordering much food, despite only wanting a light lunch! Overall we were made to feel very unwelcome. We put this down to bad experience and tried again later in the week, at which point the owner pulled over in his car outside the restaurant as we were reading the menu and pretended to be a previous customer saying ‘he went there yesterday and the food was out of this world and said it was a must visit’ despite us seeing him serve us the day before and instantly recognising him, before he then pulled in to the restaurant. Luckily on this occasion we were served by a young girl who was far more welcoming, and didn’t challenge our order quantity, but at 3pm, she was replaced by a young boy who seemed to share the traits of the male owner and his attitude was awful. He just chucked the bill on our table with no thanks and took it away. The food was average at best, and certainly not worth the price based on the experience. We would not go back

We wanted to have a nice dinner, ordered the drinks (incl. wine), and the foods (incl. appetizers) also. We waited patiently to get our drinks, when suddenly a group of 8-9 appeared and sat down next to our table. TWO waiters (including the one who took our order) were immediately there to take up their order. Then we waited for more than 10 minutes. After the waiters left the group's table, we started to believe that we could finally get the drinks. Well, that did not happen. The group got the drinks and appetizers first. We left the place...

Just returned from 2 weeks in Kefalonia. We ate at Captain Zorbas twice during the fortnight - we went back the 2nd time because the first time was so good.

First time we ate a mixed grill (my partner) and I had the chicken souvlaki - both were delicious.
The 2nd time was risotto - chicken for the other half and seafood for me. I have to say that my risotto was that nice, I have tried to duplicate it since being home (mine was nowhere near as good)

The service is very good - Marinos is such a lovely and attentive host.

Thank you Marinos - we'll hopefully see you next year x
