A truly wonderful holiday!

We stayed at Afrato Village Apts from 27th June 2015 for a week. Transfer was around 15 mins from the airport and we were greeted by Jerry on arrival. What a lovely man he is - we had fresh flowers and home made cake in our room to welcome us. The room, grounds and pool area are all kept clean and tidy, towels and bedding were changed regularly and bins emptied daily. We stayed in Room 5 (centre apt to 1st floor) and could not have been happier. The room was furnished in what i would consider a typical Greek style with plenty of storage room. The kitchen is well stocked in terms of crockery and utensils - we did eat in one evening but found it very reasonable to eat out so used our kitchen mainly for brekkie and lunch and had everything we needed. There is a large fridge freezer, an electric 2 ring stove, kettle and under-counter electric oven/ grill. The bathroom is small but functional with loo, sink, mirror and shower unit. There is plenty of hot water if you let the water run for a few minutes - it's not immediate so be patient. Also, there is FREE air conditioning! The only thing we did not have in the room was a safety deposit box. The shutters on the outside of the windows are an excellent idea - they keep out A LOT more light than curtains and they keep the sun off the windows in the daytime to stop your room becoming a sauna.
The views from the balcony were amazing and it was so quiet - not just at night, all the time! Some days we had the pool completely to ourselves for the majority of the day, the most we had around at one time were 3 couples so we were definitely NOT getting under each other's feet!!! The pool bar did not open during our stay and I've read some reviews that some people were disappointed with this - quite to the contrary, I preferred it. We brought drinks down from our room so this wasn't an issue at all. It was nice to not have to try and zone out music from the bar when you're in the middle of a good book! Listening to the sounds of the ocean is much more tranquil. We will be returning to this charming oasis as soon as possible - we didn't want to leave!!! Thank you so much to Jerry for a wonderful stay!

Local info:
The shops are about a 10-15 min walk up hill into the village (there are 3 mini markets to choose from with plenty of fresh produce) and the beach is a 20 min walk downhill. There is a path marked "Trapezaki Beach" that is a shortcut for those able bodied but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with mobility issues or very small children in buggies as it's a bit of a steep rugged path.
If you do go down to the beach, walk along to the beach bar towards the north end - it's lovely and has amazing views out to sea (great food!). You should also visit the Gefiri restaurant (10 min walk from apts) as their food is fantastic.
Go see the Loggerhead Turtles in the harbour in Argastoli!!!

Room Tip: Best ocean view rooms are upstairs

Stayed here for 12 nights in June. Very peaceful location within easy reach of nearby restaurants and supermarkets etc. The apartments are all very nicely furnished and well equipped with all you need for your stay. The sea view from our balcony was stunning. The owners Jerry and Christine were very kind and thoughtful. We found some of Christine’s homemade cake and marmalade waiting for us in our room when we arrived, and Jerry picked us some apricots picked from his trees. Evie the cleaner looked after us very well too. If you are looking for a place to relax, where all you can hear at times is the wind and the sea, then this is the place to come. Really enjoyed our stay here, and hope to return. If arriving under SAT NAV the coordinates are 38° 07' 09.700'' N 020° 36'.44.600''.

We have just returned from our 9th or 10th visit at Afrato. Again even although it was the height of the season it was still peaceful and relaxing. The apartments are kept spotlessly clean and they have great views over to Zante. The pool is fantastic and if you are lucky you can have the whole thing to yourself. (although in all the time we have visited, it has never been what you could call crowded) Again great views.
Jerry and his wife Christina always have a warm welcome and thank you Christina for the cake and home made jam left in the fridge in the apartment.
I highly recommend these apartments if what you like or need is a relaxed, peaceful chilled holiday.

We returned from Afrato 1 week ago after visiting for a second time. This is the first time we have ever been back to the same accommodation, and were very happy we had. Jerry and Christina are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble, feels like home from home! Christina's "sweet treats" are amazing!

Rooms are spotless, spacious, air-con inclusive, with stunning views.
Pool area is beautiful, again immaculate, with breath-taking views of Trapezaki bay one side and Mount Ainos the other.

We hired a car this visit, which enabled us to experience the beauty of the island, and we would recommend this, as there is so much to see.

There is a hilly walk to various tavernas (all of which are lovely), supermarkets and beaches, but it is do-able! On an evening, after great food and wine, it's very pleasant, and mostly down hill!!

There is a small bus that runs between local villages and beaches a few times a day for 1 euro.

If you want relaxation, at a picturesque, traditional location, then visit. We will be again!

I have stayed in Afrato village for ten days, from the 21st of July to the 1st of August. The atmosphere at the village is very relaxing and it has an amazing view on the sea. But unfortunately the wi-fi doesn't work and the sea, even if is below the village, is very far from it because there's a very long street to travel to. It has another little lack: you can't watch the italian television. However the place is very good but you need a car to move around and i suggest you to rent it by internet and don't take taxis, because they are very expensive.
Mr. Jerry, who's the owner, is a very good and helpful person. The village has some defects but it's a good one and we enjoyed our journey.

p.s: at the start of the street to go to the village there's a wonderful horse, sometimes give him carobs (there are lots of carobs trees there) because he's very friendly.
