We stayed at the Gaylord for two nights, February 17-18 2012, while attending the Katsucon anime fan convention. The hotel gave the con a warm welcome and maintained its top-notch reputation for treating a large fan crowd with courtesy and efficiency. Room maids were so friendly and nice even with outlandish requests! The National Pastime Bar and Grill and the wonderful Pienza Italian Market (love the breakfast buffet!) were both affordable and friendly places to eat with tasty food and excellent service. The convention center itself is just amazing, spacious and beautiful to look at with sweeping harbor views, yet lots of neat little nooks to sit and chat in; very walkable and never feels crowded even with 12000+ con-goers in it; can't beat it for photo opportunities! Even the elevators cooperated, with prompt service and no breakdowns even at checkout time. And don't miss the central fountain that gives a Vegas-style synchronized light and music performance in the evening. -- I hope Katsucon stays at this location for years to come, it's a real pleasure to visit.

Stayed at the Gaylord National with a convention this past weekend. The general public spaces in the hotel (the atrium, the lobby) are fantastic, and the meeting spaces are plentiful and useful for a wide variety of purposes.

The rooms are nice, but not spectacular for the price (convention rate was $189/night, and I've stayed in equally nice or nicer rooms for much less). That rate doesn't include a $15 daily resort fee for amenities you may well not use if you're there for meetings or a convention (the pool and gym) or may not get at all if the hotel is busy and/or housekeeping fails to service your room on one or more days (newspaper [that we never received], two bottles of water per day that we only had on check-in and the one day out of four they serviced the room).

The real surprise as far as expense went was how steep the hotel restaurants were, especially for the grade of food being served, and even more so in light of the many competing restaurants available a short walk away from the hotel.

Room Tip: You'll pay a premium for rooms that are connected out into the atrium, but unless you really want an internal balcony and don't mind a lot of noise from the public spaces of the hotel coming into your space, I wouldn't recommend those.

We stayed in August and loved it. It is large and overlooks the river. I am not sure its right for people who are tourists - there is a large convention centre there so it makes it brilliant for that - no coaches, no travelling.
Our room looked over the atrium and the river. It was lovely. The bathroom was good too, with a double sink, always good!
We loved having a drink on the terrace and the dancing lights. We enjoyed the sunsets and teh thunderstorms on the glass roof. Staff were friendly as you would expect. It may be a bit inpersonal, but then its a convention centre. I thought the food was great and the service excellent. I like seeing their name tags and where they were from. We got to know some and they were consistently nice and friendly.
The centre is accessible from a water taxi which took you to the lovely little town.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river.

This was my second trip to the Gaylord and it did not disappoint! The service is impeccable and they take their customers seriously. If you want to get a taste of being pampered please stay at this hotel for a weekend. The beds are way beyond comfortable and the room service, and restaurants in the hotel are all delish! We ate at both the Old Hickory Steak House (make reservations before you check in) and the National Pastime Bar...both were very good. If I could stay once a month to reenergize I would!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor and you will not have to deal with waiting for an elevator (even though they were fairly fast)
