Osteria il papero was a hidden pearl in the heart of tuscany. Forget all the other tuscany food that you are spoiled with when in tuscany and prepare for a sensation of flavors taken to a whole new level of the tuscany kitchen. If there is only one restaurant you are allowed to see in italy this is the place to be. It took us a while on crocky mountainways up in a small quiet village to get us there. But when you arrived you are welcome with food fit for a michelinstar restaurant. You are placed at a table at the balcony to watch the sun go down as you sip your wine and see the stars come out when you are served this delicious food from the very welcoming chef and his family. We truly recomend a visit and when you are there please try the fishsoups.

We love Tuscan cuisine in general but you really get little bored with every local restaurant having more or less same menu. Il papero was a nice surprise having a mix of traditional and excellent things with something different like cool veg dishes and really fantastic soups ( rare to find here). Owners' son is a chef and we believe he has a great talent! Good luck, guys , we definitely will come back !

Most of the food was in itself enjoyable, especially the semi-oriental cod. Not traditional, but we'd had plenty of that. The service was bizarre. Dishes arrived in random order and in a number of cases were forgotten. Some arrived after repeated reminders. One did not. No attempt was made to serve the 4 kids in the group early, let alone at the same time.

A great place if you prefer genuin food and a chef with integrity and pride in his cooking. The chef has a very good vision about what he wants and doesn't compromise with that in order to earn extra money. For example no beer are served since he doesn't think it fits the food. I would truly recommend it and we spent three nights at this place when we rented a house in the area 2014. The bisteca Fiorentina and the dish with squid was unbelievable amongst several others that I gladly would eat again. It's a must go if you want the real deal!
