My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights on our trip to the Calca canyon. I’m not sure if some of the reviews on here are accurate because there is nothing shoddy or poorly kept about this place. We stayed in a double room not far from the kitchen: the room was massive compared to most other places we’ve stayed in in Peru; the shower had excellent hot water; and, the bed was extremely comfy and accompanied by a little heater.

The best thing about this hotel is the staff. Before going out trekking I explained to the manager that my partner has rolled her ankle walking the Inca trail and that I was worried the walk might be too hard on her. On hearing this she offered her on personal walking poles free of charge and gave us advice on what to expect on the walk down. No top of this, the restaurant staff were excellent, always smiling and willing to have a chat with us at the beginning and end of our days. We would definitely book here again!

Initial booking confusion with the sister hotel up the road was rectified by the owners and they provided us with accomodation at Kunturwassi. It turned out to be a very relaxing and pleasant experience. The management was always very helpful with requests. Rooms were tidy and daily cleansed. Location is perfect being on top of the village, and easy access to the plaza. I particularly liked the village sounds of animals and people filling the valley as dusk turned into eve.
Maria and Esther went the distance to make our stay memorable by dressing us up on my wife’s birthday in traditional clothings for photo shots, then providing us with a private room for dinner.
The food was consistently tasty, tribute to the kitchen staff. Packed lunches were also good.
The grounds of the hotel is well maintained.
Only problem as usual, was the poor wifi connectivity, a local or hotel problem, one never will know.
Overall, we were rather satisfied with our stay, and do recommend to others.
Thank you, Maria and Esther.

Thank you very much for your comment and share with us your experience, we are very happy to know that you enjoy your stay, for us it was a pleasure to be able to offer you our services and be able to participate in the celebration for your birthday

For us it is important to share with you a bit of the cabana culture and we are glad to know that the photos with typical dress were to your liking

About the internet we have satellite service and sometimes because of our location or weather issues it can be a bit slow

We thank you very much for your visit, we wait for you at the next opportunity

This hotel was recommended by our tour company to overnight on our two day Colca tour.
We arrived very late and left very early, but what we experienced was great.
The staff were very friendly, our triple room was spacious and clean. Water was hot. We had a pretty view over the town.
We had supper at the hotel, it was simple but very tasty and the portions were enormous!
We left before breakfast, so can't comment on that.

This hotel might be an original Peruvian place in a non touristy town, which can be a unique experience. But what I personally hate is when a hotel uploads pictures which show a completely different place. If I had seen the reality before I wouldn't have booked it for sure.

This hotel has seen its best days probably 25 years ago, it's old, the room we stayed in stank horribly like mould. The decor looks like from an old grandmothers place, with a rock in the room and low ceilings and cold light. I really don't know how this place ever got so many good reviews as it's really not a place to feel comfortable in.

The food in the restaurant is way too expensive for what it is. The restaurant claims to be "gourmet" but it's just basic Peruvian food, which isn't bad but for the price absolutely ridiculous.

What a pity as the place could be a very original and unique place if it wasn't so ramshackled and run down.

Your opinion is important for us and it serves us to detect certain deficiencies and to be able to improve

The room in which your stayed maintains in its interior an original rock as a special feature of the room

We apologize a lot for the inconvenience caused, we have taken corrective measures and we are working on improving our facilities and services

This place is so noisy. We were placed in a room where we heard the lobby, the kitchen, every conversation of travellers as they walked past. But the worst of it was music belting out of the restaurant. Attempts to have it reduced were futile. It went all day. We were told it would stop at 8.30. It stopped at 11.30. We were told it would be soft. It got louder. We asked to move. Despite many vacant rooms, they simply shrugged it off, presumably because of the effort of a room change for them. Beware. The gloss of the website is an illusion. One comes to this small quiet village for the tranquillity and scenery. I am not sure what other choices are available. And maybe that is the root of the problem.

We apologize for the inconvenience, it is not really usual to have the noise you encountered, we did not try to justify ourselves. However, on that day a delegation of travel agents from Bolivia and Chile arrived and the Municipality offered them a musical show with dancers, the delegation arrived later than expected so the show was prolonged

That day the hotel was 100% occupied that is why they could not change rooms

We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused and the impression you took from the hotel, we will be more careful with similar situations to avoid discomfort in our guests
