“Wonderful place - Unhappy Ending”

This is our second year at edge farm and we found it to be as idyllic as the first year round. It's in a beautiful remote location, peaceful and scenic with a lot of nice walking options nearby. The cottage itself is cosy and well decorated and the owners were pleasant and easy to contact, should we have had any issues (which we didn't) or so it seemed. Unfortunately about two weeks after returning home I realised our safety deposit had not been return, upon contacting the owner about this I was told we had caused expensive damage to the taps in the kitchen, this is untrue, the taps were broken but functional upon our arrival and remained that way when we left (the owner even contacted us on the Friday night to apologise for this). After further discussion it was accepted that he had made an error and it wasn't us who caused the damage but we wouldn't be receiving our full deposit back because we had left the cottage in such an abhorrent state, again this is untrue, we left some food in the kitchen as we had bought too much and didn't see fit to throw away large quantities of perfectly good food so intended it for the use of the owner or the next occupant, apparently this was unacceptable. After some dispute a part refund has been agreed but I feel this is unfair, however the owner is in a position of power and can keep however much of my money he wishes. I am genuinely saddened by the fact that we would have quite happily returned year after year but have been made to feel like terrible guests and generally unwelcome over what seems to be an extra hour of cleaning time. We will not be returning next year.

“40th Birthday Celebrations”

What an excellent place! The communication throughout the booking was brilliant and you turn up to this gorgeous property, the owners have clearly thought about every aspect you would require throughout your stay.
We'd love to book during summer at some point to make the most of the outdoor space.
We had a surprise 40th here, everyone loved the setting, the rooms, the beautiful country setting, our own little hide away for the weekend. There's not much around, but we quite liked that, we took endless supplies with us, walked to the local pub, and even got a taxi into Pateley Bridge for one night.

“Great Long Weekend”
Reviewed 28 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We stayed here as a large family group ranging from 2-86. This house had everything we wanted and needed and would recommend it to anyone wanting a get away in the beautiful surroundings of Nidderdale. Large garden with great views which was great for children to play and adults to relax and watch the world go by. Not the easiest to find as down a long single track road when you leave Lofthouse you take the road that makes you think you are entering a Yorkshire Water site but this is correct we turned round the first time as thought this cant be right but it was. Only very small thing to note is that there is a house next door who have 3 friendly dogs who jump the wall and come say hello but we had to chase one out of the house once and one left us a present on the drive one morning that we had to clear up. This wasn't an issue to us but maybe if someone who is wary of dogs is staying. Overall a great weekend and would stay here again no problem.

“A property just as stunning as the views!”
Reviewed 9 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Edge Farm exceeded all of our expectations. It is a stunning property and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. I was here to celebrate my mum's 60th Birthday and what a fab choice of place we made, thoroughly enjoyed by all. A cosy warm setting whilst the snow fell outside made it all the more special. I would definitely highly recommend Edge Farm to anyone looking for a cosy get away across all age groups.

Liked best: How fully equipped the kitchen cupboards were, eg pots, pans & champagne flutes & the round window in the bedroom.
Liked least: Driving to the property in heavy snow.

“Absolutely Perfect!”
Reviewed 17 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

We stayed at Edge Farm for 3 nights, as three families with children aged between 13 and 16.

Firstly, I need to mention how accommodating Michael is. We rang to ask if we could arrive at the cottage around 11am (check in is not until 4pm) just to unload our food as we were travelling quite a distance and wanted to spend the day in Harrogate without our "supplies" getting warm in the car. Michael said this was no problem at all and in fact rang me a couple of days after my enquire to tell me that the cottage had already been cleaned so we could have the cottage completely from 11am.

The cottage is perfect. It is quite remote so make sure you have everything you need.

The cottage size is large, the bedrooms are all a really good size with dressing tables, hairdryers provided, plenty of storage space. Two are en-suite and there is a third bathroom on the landing. The loft space bedroom is brilliant with four single beds. Our three 16 year old boys stayed up there, plugged in their xbox and hibernated for the weekend! One of the en-suite bathrooms has a jacuzzi bath and this went down very well with the girls who found their very own spa bath very luxurious.

The kitchen is well equipped and with underfloor heating, was a pleasure to stand and cook and socialise in there.

The lounge area is my favourite room by far, with its huge log fire and fireplace and breathtaking views. My favourite place was sat in the windowsill of one of the windows with a mug of coffee, staring at the views (especially as it snowed whilst we were there so the views were very pretty).

The cottage is quite high up and a car is essential to visit most places The viaduct is a beautiful walk, as is the local pub, although this is around a 3 mile walk!

We have stayed at this cottage a few times and look forward to returning again, maybe in the summer next time.

It is the prefect retreat if you're looking for a hideaway for a few days.
