If you want a coffee and a cake it does the job but feels like a school canteen.

The cakes however are very nice.

We have been coming here for about 10 years and unfortunately the service in the restaurant is getting worse: we reviewed this place last Apr and gave it a one. We went for lunch on Good Friday and they actually stopped serving for a period as they couldn't cope with the demand. That would be fine if all the tables were full but there were plenty of empty tables which would suggest the restaurant was not operating at full capacity.

The service from point of order to payment is disjointed: you can place a food order with a member of staff with an IPad, you then have to order drinks at a separate counter and then pay at another counter. We then waited 30 minutes for the order to arrive and when it did my food arrived about 5 minutes after my wife's. In effect, we did not eat together which may seem trivial but that is the reason we visited - to have lunch together! On Good Friday the staff also seemed to be struggling with getting the orders to the tabIes from the servery, possibly due to a lack of staff. This is surprising given the management know that Good Friday is going to be a very busy day?

I spoke to the GM (Charles) last year and he said that they were working on improving the service - nothing has changed, it is still as chaotic as ever. The management really do need to get a grip and sort out the ordering process as it really does let this place down.

We live close by and visit often. As a Mum with a toddler it is a real pleasure to find somewhere so friendly and convenient to get lunch, just the two of us or with friends.
This is a cafe with a play area rather than a play area with a cafe so manage your expectations but having said that, Betty the cafe manager makes every effort to make sure the play area is well equipped and clean.
The food is average but the cakes are AMAZING.
There is plenty of room for buggies and loads of high chairs.
I feel very lucky to have this place on my doorstep and think Redfields are very lucky to have Betty working for them!

Wonderful decor but we experienced;
Dirty table - after prompting was wiped with a grubby j cloth - begrudgingly !
Cold jacket potato
Negative staff
Bit pricey.
Which is a shame really as the setting is superb.
