My girlfriend and I stayed here for a blissful few days. The cottage is a short 1hr drive from South London, and located off a quiet road, with no through traffic – only the hum of nature. It was the perfect tonic to busy London life.
We spent time admiring the horses kept on the land, listening to the chorus of birdsong, and even spotted a deer with her baby fawn, hiding away in the top field.
There are plenty of lovely walks (Leith Hill Tower, The Waterfall, Friday Street Lake), directly accessible from the cottage, so there’s no need to get back in your car once you arrive. Although, we did drive to (and recommend!) the nearby Parrot pub.
The cottage itself has lovely views of the garden, and cosy wooden-beam panelling. Functionally, it had everything we needed: well-equipped kitchen, stove, comfortable living area and bedroom, WiFi to stay connected to the outside world. There’s no TV, but we enjoyed the enforced no-screen time – just make sure you bring books and games.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back soon!
