“The Villa was absolutely perfect, beautiful, clean, and views were fabulous!!”

There were six of us staying in the Villa. Each couple had their own suite. The great room was fabulous for gathering us all together, cooking, having meals and visiting. I loved the outside porch area at the top of the stairs. We sat there enjoying the views while having wine and cheese, etc. I was so impressed by the cleanliness of the Villa. We had the opportunity to meet the owners of the Villa and they were very kind and gracious. I would not hesitate for one moment to recommend this property. It was a wonderful experience...one week was not enough!!

“NICE VILLA BUT NOT QUITE AS DESCRIBED”
Reviewed 6 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

I will start by saying this Villa is extremely hard to find!! We arrived in the dark which didn't help, but even if we had arrived in daylight it wouldn't have been easy as it is accessed from an unmade road which is in extremely poor condition off Via Rosario not actually on it. We had to phone the caretaker more than once for directions! The description of this property leads you to believe there is ground floor accommodation - THERE ISN'T. The only thing on the ground floor is a very nice wicker sofa and chairs which in our opinion would have been better on the first floor outside area where it would have been used. The accommodation is actually reached by 25+ steep steps leading to 3 apartments - 2 of these have 1 bedroom, a kitchen and bathroom and the 3rd one has 2 bedrooms one of which is en-suite, a toilet room with a sink and a kitchen, thus leaving one of the bedrooms without a shower. Very few of the doors shut properly but then it is an old property so to be expected. The kitchen in the largest area is very dark so hard to see what you were doing, and the other 2 kitchen had no plates, pans etc. The outside area has a large table where we ate every day with wonderful views over the Tuscan countryside. There wasn't an area to relax though hence my earlier comment about the wicker sofa should be on this level. The swimming pool was lovely but to access it you had to walk down a steep grassy bank to the side of the property. Once there you can only see the roof of the villa, so unless one of your party stays in the villa, it has to be shut up and your bags packed with a view to be gone for the day! There is a toilet and a shower by the pool, along with a kitchen area with table and chairs - would be greatly improved by the addition of a fridge though. We stayed for 2 weeks and thought that we may have got house keeping once during our stay - not the case although there were clean sheets and towels to change ourselves. The floors, especially in the bathrooms, got quite grubby (grass slopes down to pool) but there were no mops that we could find to do anything about that. The caretaker Lolita was fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble and she answered all our questions and told us the history of the Villa. She and her Mother came to the Villa one evening and gave us all a cooking lesson - she made pasta, a wonderful sauce, Tirimisu etc. She also organised us a guide to show us around Florence on a days notice. All in all this is a good place to stay, the countryside is beautiful and Lucignano is lovely. If you want to use the Wi-fi it is sporadic with some of us not even able to connect to it. Lastly bring mosquito spray, candles, wristbands, more spray - we all got eaten alive!!

“Relaxing time in Lucignano”
Reviewed 31 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

7 of us stayed at Il Villino in late July 2014. The premises are as outlined in the overview and suited us well. The house itself is stunning and the loggia on the first floor was a great place to watch the sun go down over the valley while enjoying the local wines. The views are incredible. The pool is of a good size and very excluded and the external BBQ house is definitely worth using. It is a 15 minute walk into Lucignano (a very pretty town) which has several very good Tuscan restaurants and also a little supermarket where you can get daily essentials, but bear in mind that the shops shut between one and four thirty each day. As the villa is so far of the beaten track it can be quite difficult to find - would recommend a bit of research before arriving in Lucignano. It is, however, a good central place to jump in the car and do a bit of exploring - Cortona is beautiful, but on a sunny day (not when there is a chance of rain!) All in all, great food and wine, great views, great time.
