Upgraded our Groupon voucher to include sandwiches. Freshly prepared with plenty of fillings, we were not disappointed, and only paying £3 for the two of us. Fruit scones, butter jam and cream with my favourite ginger cake. A really nice addition to the platter is the fruit trifle, really loved this. I am pleased that after our last visit the cafe seemed to be quite busy. The staff are welcoming, working hard to make your visit pleasant and enjoyable. The garden centre is stocked with a good selection of plants, again it seemed to be busier on our visit. We will definitely be coming back, the scones and cake are really worth a try.

We visited using a groupon voucher for afternoon tea for two. We also took along a family member who ordered separately. The cafe is only small and seems to be a recent addition to the garden centre to earn extra money as it was all very quiet. The lad on the till appeared terrified and was painfully slow - it may have been his first day, at least I hope it was! The one lady doing all the cooking etc appeared efficient although it did take a long time to get the jacket potato and we had nearly finished our afternoon tea. All was presented very nicely. We ordered a cheese sandwich to share for an extra £1.50 to go alongside the tea and, although we ordered it in white bread and it came in brown, it was good to have savoury alongside the sweet items. A slice of ginger/Parkin cake (would have preferred the coffee and walnut), a fruit scone with butter, jam and fresh cream and a small trifle in a shot glass with a pot of tea was all presented on a nice wooden board. Certainly plenty for two and a good offer with the voucher. A nice garden centre/ cafe and would go in again if in the area but would not make a special journey.

Hello Elaine,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review regarding your visit to the café. I would just like to take this opportunity to address some of the comments you made.

We have recently taken on some new weekend waiting staff, and the job is, for some, their very first job. We are certain that with a little more experience in the job they will be a lot more confident on the till and serving our customers!

I happened to be cooking on the day you visited and I can recall your visit. On this occasion the party redeeming the Afternoon Tea came up to the counter and placed their order for drinks and the sandwich upgrade. After this two other customers came and ordered food, followed then by the lady who ordered the jacket potato. The orders were made approximately five minutes apart and there was no indication made that the jacket potato was to be served with the Afternoon Tea. We fulfil meals in the order they are made and this may account for the time between your food. Had it been mentioned I would have tried to make sure the food was delivered together.

As for the brown bread instead of white - that was a mistake on my part so please accept my apologies for this!

Thank you for your positive comments regarding our establishment.

Kind regards, Helen

We have just had an afternoon tea via a Groupon voucher. We upgraded to have sandwiches include which costed only £3 for 2. Everything was wonderfully fresh and having a trifle was a real nice addition you don't usually find. The coffee cake was the best we have tasted for a long time. We will definitely visit again. The cafe was very clean and tidy and staff were friendly and efficient.
