Just returned from the most memorable Winter holiday ever! A group of 12 friends & family - some youngsters, some elders - many of us have been skiing or boarding for decades but we are unanimous in our opinion that Montgenevre & the Via Letta (Milky Way ski area) combine to make the perfect resort. No banging music on the slopes or noisy late-night revellers ... a fantastic range of slopes both above & below the tree line ... Eagle's Rock first thing in the morning, then over to the breathtaking splendour of the South Side & lunching in the sunshine at LesTerrasses mountain restaurant with its stunning vista over the valley. Then a scoot over the border to nail some Italian slopes before finishing the day at the Bowl, high above Monty, where the sun shines all day long.
Après-ski at Le Graal - delicious scran, great atmosphere - before skiing back to the door, virtually, of Chalet Claire.
Standing above the village main road just down from the shops & restaurants, right across from Les Chalmettes chair & gondola lift & opposite the Durancia Spa & Pool complex, Chalet Claire could not be better positioned; it's virtually ski-in, ski-out! After delving into a hearty breakfast of fresh baguettes, pastries, boiled eggs & porridge around the huge dining table, we would kit up in the boot room & drink our coffees on the balcony facing the mountain & plan our day. The chalet has recently been completely refurbed in traditional Alpine wood, the vast living area includes a dining space & large modern kitchen, perfect for everyone to gather in, to eat, drink, chat & relax. Each of the 6 bedrooms, 3 on each floor, sleep 2 people in either double beds or twins, are en-suite and as cosy & comfortable as you could wish for up in the mountains, whilst still being spacious.
1 hour 20 mins from Turin airport, 1850 metres altitude (ensuring the best snow conditions), a minute's walk to the lift and the perfect Alpine accommodation - it just doesn't get any better than this!
First rate property. Really well furnished and equipped to a high standard. Across the road from the nearest chairlift. Six en suite bedrooms . Only one twin, the rest being doubles. Great kitchen and dining table that seated 12. Great hot water supply. Had a gym in the room below which we did not use ! Also a great washing machine and tumble dryer.
We enjoyed our stay. I don't think Montgenèvre is the best resort, but this chalet was top notch.
