We stayed at Infinity Bay the week of Feb. 3,2008. Loved everything, from management to workers to the resort supplied airport transfer drivers, who were more like tour guides, for the 20 minute drive from the airport. On arrival picked up and taken to receptionist by golf cart, smooth check in. Property amazing, beautiful landscape and buildings. Wonderful pool with 3 small waterfalls. Swim up bar almost completed. Neat little palapa bar with good snack type foods. [try the shrimp basket] Rooms were luxurios, beds wonderful, kitchen top of the line appliances. We stayed in room 1203, nice view. Read about noise from construction on forums but really didn't notice due to a wall built seperating ongoing construction from completed section. Also about electricity problems, but they have a huge generator out on the hill in the parking lot. Not many people there but this is a new property, imagine it will start filling up once word is out. Restaurant and spa not built yet, may be awhile yet. The beach aaahhh the beach. Wonderful white cool sand, coconut palms and the boat dock right out front. Resort has loungers that are for guests only that they will take to the beach for you. Water is crystal clear, and lake calm. The reef is 30' out and is amazing, goes from 5' deep to about 30' and clear with a wide variety of fish. Go to the left toward the cliffs. Down the beach you can glass bottom boat and scuba dive, plus little beach vendors. A must do is a trip over to West End, there's a bunch of little open air bars and restaurants and local food shacks, really cool place. Take the water taxi.

Just returned ( yesterday ) from a great 2 week trip to Roatan over the Christmas holidays !!

Overall the weather was great ( virtually no rain until the last of 13 days on island ) , the beach in West Bay beautiful - and some of the best snorkelling and scuba diving spots I've seen .

Here are the Highlights and lowlights of what we experienced ...

1. Accomodations: Infinity Bay - West Bay Resort

Highlights :

- THE BEST accomodations we've had in some time at Infinity Bay Resort , an American built luxury Condo development on the beach next to the best reef snorkelling on the island !!!!
- Huge and great pool
- Friendly and accomodating staff
- well appointed suites with every amenity youd need
- the BEST beach location without question !!
- Great value at $190/night for 800 sq ft 1 bedroom

Low-lights :
- Power went out at least 5 times - once as long as 2 hours !!. More a fault of the Islands inadequate power grid (buy candles !!!!)
- Mosquitos : yowzer !! No shortage from dusk onwards . The repellant helps but bet on getting bitten !
- Taxis not readily available at resort if you intend to go to the West End to dine ( although lots of good West Bay food )

2. Beach/Water Activities :

Highlights :
- Great Beach in West Bay . (there isnt anything like it in west end ) Great sunning chairs available from resort with refreshment bar 20 feet away !!
- Great snorkelling literally 20 yards from beach . Best Ive seen in some time in Caribbean
- Great Scuba diving ( see West End Divers - ask for Mel ) Very professional and helpful and if certified $25 a dive only !!

Lowlights:
- really not many other than fact that while its not Mexico ,there were lots of Beach hawkers selling things .......but everyones got to earn a living

3. Miscellaneous stuff.........

Highlights
- Great new coffee shop - walking distance to Infinity Bay resort at plaza . Excellent Lattes for those needinga fix !!!
- Very good Argentinian restaurant in West End area - only $2 dollar water taxi ride ( daytime only )
- Inexpensive Deep Sea fishing relative to other islands - catching Barracuda, Tuna and Wahoo....($250-350 USD per half day for entire boat )
- Visit Mangiammo - a gourmet / deli/restaurant - again close to Infinity Bay resort with excellent food for fridge , great snacks etc
- water taxis to West End are cheap but only available until dusk

Lowlights:
- save money for departure taxes $38 USD each adult
- get familiar with taxi prices as they'll try and up-charge you everywhere

All in all though a very reasonably priced vacation with excellent beach, sun and fun - and NOT yet over-developed ( althoghits coming )

Enjoy Roatan !!
