We spent 11 nights here in January 2017. There are no regrets. This property has the very best access to the reef , as there is a channel right from the shore of the beachfront that brings you easily out to the area where there is incredible coral and sea life.
Daily breakfasts were free for our package. There was a selection of local cuisine, baleadas, beans, cheeses, tortillas, along with the usual American breakfast products, eggs, bacon, meats, toast, etc. Fruit was offered daily. The honduran coffee was excellent. Wait staff were always helpful and friendly.
I will say I am surprised at the use of paper cups and plastic spoons for coffee and drinks. It seems the hotel would be more eco friendly, unless there is a reason related to water use and washing the items. Perhaps someone can jump in here and explain.
There were ample beach chairs available. Local vendor patrol the beach and sell their wares: sunglasses, tee shirts, massages, fruit, excursions, and more. They are not really too pushy. Make sure you try a banana donut and banana bread. Both were excellent.
On cruise ship days the beach gets busy, but it is not a real issue, it is definitely more lively... more parasailing going on, or banana boat rides, and some kayak guided snorkeling ---dragging the cruisers by rope while a guide kayaks them to the area that is full of fish. They start in around 10 and leave by 3.. best snorkeling is early AM when the water is the clearest.
We did one night snorkel with the resort Dive Center ($35 each) and saw plenty of octopi, squid and yes, a six foot green Moray eel that parked right in front of us for a good long while. WOW! The bioluminesence was stellar when we shut our flashlights off. We planned on doing this without a guide the second time as we were fearful of navigating the reef alone at night, but it got windy at the end of our stay and it wasn't possible.
The room(s) were very large. We had a one bedroom first floor apartment with full kitchen (all rooms have full kitchen). There was a TV, microwave, coffee pot, fridge with icemaker, and internet. I will say, the staff response time to any issue was very fast. Our internet went down, we got a new router that same evening. Our ice machine broke (we think after a power surge) and it was replaced immediately. At the end of our stay we were advised not to drink the water because they were doing something with the purification system, and we were provided with plenty of bottled water for free.
The pool was fine, not overly crowded. We are more beach swimmers so did not use it often.
There were NO bugs other than at dusk at any restaurant on the beach. We never used bug spray other than one evening. That was a very pleasant surprise.
While at Infinity, you can go to any of a large number of beach restaurants associated with the other resorts. Prices are competitive and main courses are about $18-22 each. We bought our own food for lunch which saved us $, and as I said, breakfast was free.
Comparision to other resorts in the area: Grand Caribe is at the end of the bay, facing Black Rock, a dive destination. Access to the reef was much better at Infinity. Their restauarant was very good. That resort is VERY quiet, which some people like.
The ones down the other end of West Bay seem to be livelier, and way busier when the cruise ships are in. The water taxis all seem to park around there, which prevents swimming on the reef in my opinion. The people who sell shore some excursions are also located there, so there is a bit more vending.
You can walk to a small grocery store at the end of the beach . There are a few shops and cafes there as well, I never felt unsafe even though there are armed guards everywhere at each resort. I walked myself alone here and there and never felt nervous.
Overall, having researched MANY resorts on Roatan, for a long time, I know we made the best choice, as the beach was lovely, the beach resort atmosphere was lively but not overdone, and the location for snorkeling was the best! We were out at least twice every day. Even the divers from other resorts came to this place for their shore excursions.. On a land tour we saw most of the island and many of the other resorts I had researched.. this was the BEST BEACH! Infinity Bay was an excellent place to stay,
