We called in for a quick beer and left three hours later after having a great hamburger and chips, and a few beers. No phones allowed in the pub only allowed to talk to bar person, other patrons or each other. Some funny signs about, and don't forget to put some money in the parking metre( ha ha). Love this pub

We camped in our Winnebago in the grassy back yard. The cost is a donation to the Flying Doctor. There's not much going on in town - the pub is the focal centre. HUGE (REALLY HUGE) meals make great value for money.

Room Tip: If you don't like BIG meals - order a single steak and two sets of cutlery for a couple.

Friendly helpful staff in all areas, typical country pub-style meal (huge, tasty and with all the trimmings), room comfortable, clean and well-set out in a quiet location, under-cover parking. Highly recommend.

After a day on the hot outback road the Western Star as a destination is terrific. A little more expensive than Coopers Cabins which is the only other accomodation in town.

The staff were welcoming and our motel room more than adequate, well equipped, lovely linen with fabulous airconditioning.

The bar is clean and has a good feel to it. But beware when it's hot, it's hot!

The steak for dinner was slightly over cooked but we enjoyed the company of the locals and felt at ease.

Stayed at the Western Star for work; while the rooms are typical western Queensland motel rooms; the big attraction is the home cooked meals. Huge country fare with steaks/schnitzels hanging off the plate! These can be served in room or in the lounge area at the pub. The pub itself has plenty of character and the service is friendly!

Room Tip: Motel Rooms have ensuite while the hotel rooms have a communal shower/amenities.
