It is not the best side of town.
An area of the city with a lot of garbage around and around 15/20 minutes walking from the center.
The hotel inside is very nice, clean and calm.
The breakfast doesn't have many options, it was the down point of it.
The rooms are quite good (not so big) and they are clean every day.

I was pleasantly surprised when I spent the night here, I was expecting a typical budget hotel based on the price I paid. But it was very nice, well furnished, clean and comfortable. The location is also good, near the Midi station and the city center. The breakfast in the morning was satisfactory, the staff were all friendly. My only complaint would be that the towels didn't smell so fresh. Other than that, I'd definitely stay here again.

The location is convenient, close to Midi station and to the city centre, however, the area is a bit dodgy.
It was probably partly refurbished recently, as the exterior along with the lobby and the restaurant look very nice, and much better than the rooms. The room I stayed was OK, just a bit outdated. I guess there may be some issues with the old sewage system, as there were some odd noises when flushing and unpleasant smell from the bathroom.

I have been for 4 days /3 nights to this hotel. Hotel is located in the part of the city called Anderlecht, near the Gates of Anderlecht /around 30 meters away/.Generally, Anderlecht is multiethnic community and really friendly area of Brussels. Although, I have seen a couple of homeless people around The Gates of Anderlecht, it hasn't been any alarm of trouble or danger.
Hotel is centrally located with walking accessibility to Old Town/Historic center - Grand Palace, Manikin Pis, the famous chocolate shops as like Godiva, Neuhaus, lace shops... It takes around 20 minutes of pleasant walking from the hotel to the most interesting and the most beautiful part of the city - the Old town/ Historic center. There is no need to use public transport.
There are many food shops near the hotel. Also, in the corridor of the hotel, there is a machine for bottles of water and soft drink. So, everything is handy for tourists.
Relating to my room, it was little space with modest furniture. When I walked in the room, it looked as if I transported back to 70-es of the last century. Carpet, TV, basic furniture were really old-fashioned. Rooms really need updating and to be refurnished. On the other hand, bed was comfortable, bed-linen clean, toilet clean, and it had all hygienic stuff and hair dryer. Restaurant service and food choice for breakfast have been good.Reception staff have been helpful, effective and kind.

All in all, I was satisfied with Van Belle Hotel. Besides mentioned, the hotel provides good ratio between price you pay and what you get for it. To sum up, this place is very good option for short sightseeing stay of tourists who only want to sleep over here and have good breakfast at reasonable price in a solid part of the city near historic center. Recommendable option for young and middle-aged people without little children.

Firstly awkward walk on cobbles stone to hotel. They do have a shuttle so advise booking and using. We used it to go to station when leaving. No kettle of facility in room would be nicer if that was supplied but did not affect us.A nice buffet breakfast which you can prepay when booking or pay if required when there. About 15 minute walk to Brussels Midi station and can get trains to lots of destinations from there. Staff are friendly and helpful. The area is not the best but we had no issues with that. We wanted a cheaper hotel as only sleeping there as out all day. We booked some trips and were picked up from a nearby hotel within walking distance.
