I truly recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for total relaxation and quiet. I believe this is the first hotel of its kind - no alcohol, no smoking and pure vegetarian.
The rooms are quaint and the service overall is pleasant and adequate. Food quality can be better acceptable. I would certainly use this resort again should I plan another visit to Hampi.

We could take only a short break from Bangalore and opted to visit Hampi. Sight seeing was important to us, but so was the stay as we wanted to relax away from the city. The resort was spread out, with lush green lawns all around and the rooms were luxurious. We are vegetarians and enjoyed the food. Theme shows within the resort was a great way to spend the evenings. Only crib is that very few staff speak English or Kannada and "live singing" during lunch hour made us eat fast - to get away to our rooms.

This is the best resort i have stayed in India. The Resort is Rajasthani themed but facilities are world class in every way. We were on vacation to Hampi ,Badami and pattadakal caves . we needed to rest quietly towards the end of our trip due to excessive heat in that region. we stayed here for four days and was an absolute pleasure. we got good deal too :). The resort has vast grounds with cottages on one end. Cottage has indian exteriors but interiors are of best of brands with advanced shower system. my son had a whale of a time trying all options :). They have electric cars to take us around if we need it. breakfast area has great views of paddy fields. Service was great in every way and people were very courteous. They have a world class spa and clubhouse. Balinese massage was very theraupatic. They have rajasthani shows in the evenings with camel/bullock cart ride etc. There is special Rajasthani thali served in the restuarant. Food is simply great. i would highly recommend this resort to anybody who visits hampi . These people have understood hospitality !!.

You could go to a five-star hotel for double the price, with marble floors and exquisite chandeliers, but none of the Tajs or Sheratons I've ever been to compare to this place in terms of hospitality. Their website says "Athithi devo bhava" and these people mean it. From the moment you set foot inside this beautiful, large resort you are a guest. And not just any guest, but a royal one.

The resort is designed entirely like a Rajasthani village, but that is only the facade. The amenities are state-of-the-art, including internet services, flat screen TVs in the rooms, a shower system that has a digital display to tell you the temperature of the water, and electric golf carts to ferry you from your room to whatever part of the resort you want to go. The entire resort is solar-powered and each cottage has its own solar panel, neatly hidden in the impeccable architecture.

Their attention to detail is phenomenal. The lawns are well-kept and the landscaping truly evokes the spirit of Rajasthan, as do the outfits of the staff, who sport turbans and luxurious Rajasthani-style mustaches! Everything from the pillars, to the lamps and the paintings seem to have been carefully chosen to complement the theme.

The resort is entirely vegetarian, but this suited us, since we're both vegetarians ourselves. Some of the international guests staying at the resort might have had limited options, but I don't think they minded very much. Breakfast (which is included in your tariff) is served in their coffee shop, which overlooks the fields and mountains near Hampi. The food was simply spectacular - the best sambar I have eaten in my life (and I'm a South Indian!), delicious dosas, halwa, pooris and absolutely perfect chai. Their outdoor restaurant again reflects the theme, and the Rajasthani thali is served in brass plates and glasses, on wooden stools behind which you squat. If you prefer an a la carte menu, they have a regular indoor restaurant as well, where the food is more varied, and equally delicious.

Above all, what makes Vijayshree Heritage Village so special is the incredible hospitality. The staff are tremendously warm and friendly, greeting guests as they pass them by with a "Ram Ram" or "Namaste" and truly genuine smiles. My husband hurt his hand rather badly while we were climbing the slopes to see the ruins at Hampi, and when we returned to the resort, the golf cart driver, the F&B manager, the receptionist all immediately noticed his injury and began tending to him. They cleaned his wound with antiseptic, sent for Band-Aids and cotton and frequently (but unobtrusively) looked in to ask how he was doing. And on the night we were set to leave, we were running very late and thought we might miss our bus if we waited to have dinner; but the same F&B manager ordered his staff to speed things up and they served us our meal within five minutes of our placing the order!

The spa was a really nice experience as well, although the towels still carried a faint odour of the oils they'd probably absorbed from prior use.

The only down side to the experience was Vijayshree's location, which made it difficult for us to get public transport to Hampi or Hospet (the resort is located between the two places). The resort does have a travel desk and a car and driver available to guests; however, if you plan to stay long, it might prove expensive.

On the whole, I would highly recommend Vijayshree, which is truly pleasing and comfortable, and could be a great destination for a quiet wedding, a small seminar or conference, or to simply relax.
