There are two main "touristy" neighborhoods on Vieques, Esperanza and Isabel Segunda II. Esperanza is characterized by the Malecon, where there are several small "guesthouses", restaurants, gift shops, a museum, and two dive shops on the strip. Esperanza is very much a residential area and there is a small park several blocks in from the Malecon. Isabel Segunda II is the "city" area of Vieques. The buildings are close together and much of the shopping in town has to be done in Isabel Segunda. The rest of the island is mostly residential with much of the homes being in the hilly areas.
