There are many standard books on touring Ireland like Fodor’s and Frommer’s, but one of the most helpful is the Reader’s Digest Illustrated Guide to Ireland . It is available from many retailers. It is listed at Amazon.com for under $25. It is in hardcover and has beautiful photographs as well as detailed descriptions of interesting sites to see, broken down by regions and counties. If you take it with you, it will be well worn by the time you get home!
Another wonderful resource- especially for first-time visitors- is DK Publishing’s Eyewitness Guide to Ireland! The new (updated) version debuts on March 20, 2006. Amazon has it available for $15.95. You can purchase DK Eyewitness Travel Guides for other countries, as well- they’re terrific!
Always browse any or all Travel Pictorial books about a country, region or a natural wonder of the world . You will find excellent photography to view at leisure. Check out any bookstore or library ( lending or reference ).

Every traveller should make it a priority to browse one or all of the guides listed below. It will be a great education to browse the layout and view the excellent photography. Browse the children's or junior section of your local library for travel and geography guides. You will find a variety of guides to countries, regions or natural wonders of the world. The majority of these guides will be less than fifty pages in length. They will contain an excellent overview of a country etc. They are an excellent introduction to travel for a novice traveller.
