The Canary Islands are so far from the continent that the only way to get there is by plane or ferry from the mainland (2 days). There are a few cruises that travel between the islands and inter-island ferries, but most people fly into the Fuerteventura airport from Europe. The majority of these flights are charters, so booking through an agency is probably the best way to go, although it is now much easier to book one way flights to and from the island. Plenty of flights are now available between the UK and the Canaries. Flying time from Britain or Ireland to Fuerteventura is about four hours. The airport services most large European airlines, including Thomas Cook, Thomson, Iberia, Ryanair, Easyjet, Jet2, Air Europa etc . It is located just outside of Puerto del Rosario, about 10 minutes from Caleta de Fuste, and 40 minutes from Corralejo. Cab fares to each city are pre-set, and a chart listing these prices is posted by the taxi stand outside the airport. You can also get a rental car or take the No. 3 bus, which runs between Puerto del Rosario and Caleta de Fuste once every 30 minutes.
