The best way to get to know Perry, besides actually coming here, is to read the book A Town Called Perry by Marjorie Patterson. That book delves into Perry's history starting at the very beginning.

Perry was founded around 1869 by Harvey Willis. Although it is not a prominent feature today, Perry owes part of its success to the railroad.

Perry is most known for its Hotel Pattee. Though recently closed, the Hotel Pattee was the center of  Perry's downtown. Its artwork and elaborate rooms were known across the nation.

The Forest Park and Museum is also another great way to get to know Perry better. It has artifacts from Perry's past along with a one-room school house.
