Getting around Erie is a simple task that can be easily accomplished if you just try. Most of the downtown is plotted grid-like and the East-West roads are numbered starting with 1st Street by the Lake down. The North-South streets are more tricky. Many of them are one-way through the city, so they can be a little bit confusing. But, traffic congestion is not a problem in Erie, so it's not like you'll set yourself back an hour if you make a wrong turn. The bus-system, called EMTA, is another option. It provides a safe, clean option for getting place to place, although it mainly services the Downtown area.
