All major rental car companies have service outlets at the airport, and several have outposts within the city of Knoxville as well. Companies serving the Knoxville area include Avis, Budget, Enterprise, National, and Hertz, among others. Driving to or from and within the city is to be avoided during morning and afternoon rush hours as well as during University of Tennessee gamedays. Parking within the city is served by a number of lots and metered on-street parking. In addition, free parking is available at Market Square, State Street and Locust Street parking garages, and at all meters after 6 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends (special events notwithstanding). A parking map details the location of public parking and city-owned garages located in the downtown area.

Taxis can be hailed at the airport and within Knoxville's downtown area. Otherwise, you can call a taxi company to come pick you up at the location of your choice. Taxi service from the airport to downtown Knoxville will cost between $10 and $25. Limousine and chartered car service is also available from the airport.

For estimates, there are online fare calculators available, such as Knoxville Taxi Fare Calculator.
