That’s something. Something that you can think that you know what you will have, you can expect such type of experience for such price; you can expect the level of restaurant, bar and food; size and level of territory cleanliness; you can expect that staff will be kind, helpful and attentive; you can expect the villa design and the view from it… But everything is just much much better than you can expect. I was absolutely grateful for this experience to the team of Banyan tree Escape. Riska was of one of our waitresses and she is just a big professional with her kind The bartender, which surprised us by different non-alcoholic (and slightly alcoholic) cocktails during our stay, which we never tried before, because they were made of local and non-typical ingredients. We celebrated my birthday here, and we even have a bathtub with a flowers, a private super tasty dinner with a fire in a wild jungles… The resort even have their own waterfall where you can complete a melasti ceremony. I can tell you more and more about my experience, but any words can’t be compared to even one day staying there. Thank you so much for everything!

Probably the most unique hotel we’ve ever stayed at, and one of a kind in the world. About 20km away to the North from Ubud, there’s Buahan Village. The resort is located into the rainforest. Built from old long wooden house (rumah panjang) and old wooden ship which was plunged under water for 10 years, offers a unique experience where there’s no door and no walls. We stayed at their one and only Seven Peaks Pool Bale which offers spectacular view of Mount Batur. If you’re planning to stay here, stay at this one only for the best experience. Though the first day was filled with heavy rain for most of the time as we went to Bali at almost the end of rainy season. But their heated plunge pool was a relief. Dipping into pool while raining, and looking over the Buahan Valley is nothing less than an euphoric experience. Most of the staffs are from Buahan Village only and they were absolutely the sweetest we have ever met. From our Butlers to the people who serve at the restaurant, everyone was so amazing to talk with. The GM Ms. Puspa is a gem of a person who used to be working at Capella Ubud, and now she made it an iconic project. I want to mention Arda and De Gus’ name specifically, as they were so much instrumental and true to themselves and made us feel like home. Even when their shift was over, they never hesitated to pickup the call. It shows service above self attitude, which is very rare to find in most of the high-touch hotels. We tried the Spa here as well, and it was so refreshing. Birds chirping, and relaxing spa with breeze, is a heavenly combination. Yanti and Ade, both were very sweet and made sure we’re having a great spa experience. Buahan, Banyan Tree serves 70% plant based meals and I never thought I’d like them so much. The Executive Chef was amazing as well who curated all the set menu for us from scratch to make sure it’s matching with our food allergy reactions. Also do try the “Chilli Cheese”. My goodness, a heaven of spicy and cheese lovers. The concerning part of us was the bugs before we came here. Yes, bugs are there but pest control is on point and 24*7. So there’s not much to worry about. Oh yes, you may encounter some friendly gecko. Our adventure point was the beautiful waterfall which was 300 stairs down. It was literally a “breathtaking” experience in both sense. They’re planning to make the elevator down till waterfall which will help many to experience it as it’s very difficult for people with mobility issues to come down over here. One thing to keep in mind that most of the places are accessible by walking only, so if you decide to stay, make up your mind to walk. But you’ll definitely enjoy the walk, especially during night when the small lanterns lights up. When we stayed, the main pool area and restaurant as well as the bar area was under construction thus couldn’t access it, but when I expressed my interest to click picture, they vacant the whole place just for us. That’s the attention to details. The main pool in an infinity pool and it’s so beautiful, words can’t explain. A perfect spot, for sure. Also, they did set up a beautiful romantic dinner for us, which we loved to the core. It was such an unique and peaceful experience we ever had and we totally loved it ♥️ Can’t wait to get back here during our next visit in Bali. Thank you, team Buahan Banyan Tree for making us feel loved, welcomed and gifting us memories for life to cherish.

This was our first trip to this resort, and it was an extraordinary experience. The 16 villas are built into a valley with dense forest and vegetation, spaced out so that one generally won't see the other buildings. Our villa had a 270 degree view of the jungle and we saw no other house, road or other signs of human activity. The villas have no walls and no windows (there are curtains that will be closed during the night), and so getting up in the morning and opening the curtains affords a spectacular view into the jungle, accompanied by a soundtrack of cicadas and birds and the nearby waterfall. It is deeply relaxing. Depending where the villa is situated, there is a 5-10 minute walk to the main restaurant area. Since the villas have no walls, there is no air condition (other than in the bed itself), but we didn't find this to be a problem as the resort is at over 600m elevation and it was quite cool even during the day when we visited in June. The bed itself has an air condition function which circulates cold air from the bed board via a small canopy above, it works very well. We got some mosquito bites (though not at night, as the bed has separate curtains that seem to keep them out) and so I would recommend to bring some repellent that works for you. Food is cooked from scratch and made to order. Breakfast and lunch are a combination of Indonesian, Balinese and Western dishes. Dinner is a largely plant-based set menu with a choice of fish or meat. However, the kitchen is very flexible and is happy to discuss alternatives. All meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) were varied and very tasty. The hotel offers free activities (rice field tour, bike tour, foraging tour, yoga) every day which were well done and interesting. What really brings the resort together is the extraordinary service. Hospitality is truly in the DNA of the staff and comes forward whenever one needs or wishes something. Service comes from the heart, at a level rarely experienced even in luxury hotels. We stayed for five days and I left the resort only once. I wish I was back there now, waking up to the sound of the cicadas and seeing the rays of the morning sun lighting up the valley.
