From his rapid response to my emails to his warm welcome,Martin is a delightful host.Justly proud of his magical C15 emblematic village house,flower-filled courtyard and rooftop terrace,he has decorated with reclaimed wood,old artefacts and comfortable furniture indoors and out.The rooms are huge,spotlessly clean with ample storage space.A welcome pack includes groceries,wine,fruit,toiletries,even washing liquid and charcoal.
An ideal location:2 tiny woodfired bakeries for hot morning rolls,supermarket,pharmacy,bars and excellent cafes within 5 mins.walk.No need for car rental(though parking easy) as buses run hourly to an unspoilt beach with sandy crescent,rock pools, long promenade,restaurants and bars.Other buses offer a spectacular ride to mountain villages;to the capital and onward to fishing villages with seafood restaurants.The airport is a 15 min. busride away.
Aguimes is a beautiful unspoilt village with few tourists,local activities,music, museums,art and craft galleries,artisan food and at every turn most wonderful bronze sculptures and mosaics.Walks,wanders and more challenging hikes start here and up in the mountains.
We will return.

wunderschön, sehr gemütlich und rustikal in einer kleinen kanarischen stadt gelegen sehr zentral und trotzdem ruhig
wir waren zu 8 in dem haus von martin. er ist ein sehr netter vermieter, der vor ort wohnt. das haus ist wie oben beschrieben wirklich einzigartig. man kann gemütlich in dem kleinen hof sitzen oder auf der terasse. waschen konnten wir auch ohne probleme. das einzige was uns an dem haus sehr gestört hat, es hat 2 schlafzimmer die nur durch einen vorhang getrennt sind. man hat ein schlafzimmer mit einem doppelbett wo man türen verschließen kann, die anderen beiden schlafzimmer sind oben im haus durch die treppe erreichbar, aber: offen zu küche und wohnraum hin. für uns als 2 separate familien eine kleine Zumutung mit je 2 kindern. man hört wirklich alles in dem haus.wenn man einen gesunden festen schlaf hat sollte das kein problem darstellen, falls man aber mit 2 familien anreisen sollte oder mit menschen deren schnarchen einen stört... dann könnte es in dem häuschen ungemütlich werden. ich finde dass sollte in der beschreibung erwähnt werden. es gibt zudem leider keine fotos von innen. das finde ich schade. das haus ist auch von innen sehr gemütlich eingerichtet. der küche fehlt ein backofen. an basics ist soweit alles da. martin ist uns sehr entgegen gekommen, da es bei der buchung einige probleme gab. nochmal großen dank dafür, wir hatten einen tollen urlaub in dem kleinen ort und 2 schildkröten gab es auch noch als haustiersensation

casa accogliente e caratteristica per chi vuole incontrare la vera Gran Canaria
La casa è molto curata in ogni dettaglio con grande cura e attenzione al recupero di materiali naturali antichi, ha spazi comuni molto confortevoli pieni di piante.
Ha tre stanze da letto, una cucina e un salotto e un bagno .Ad accoglierti ci sono tre simpatiche tartarughe.
E' una sistemazione adatta a chi ama conoscere la gente del posto, visitare il meraviglioso interno. Il paesino è tranquillo, molto curato e ospitale.Ideale per chi vuole rilassarsi.
La casa è vicina all'areoporto (10 min di auto) e alle spiagge (20 min fino a Maspalomas). Il proprietario Martin è stato sempre molto gentile e disponibile e ci ha fatto sentire molto accolti.

This 400 years old listed house has been beautifully and sympathetically restored by the owner, and whilst still retaining most of the original Canarian features it incorporates all the modern features needed for a comfortable and relaxing holiday ( wi fi,cable tv,solar hot water etc.).
    The house consists of two dwellings which can be rented individually or together to accommodate up to 14 people. Both have outside areas, one an enclosed,plant-filled courtyard (Bentejui)and the other a sheltered sun terrace (Doramas).
     It is situated in the ancient and picturesque town of Aguimes which has all the amenities (bank,small supermarket,petrol station etc.) and a small artisan bakery just round the corner. The excellent public transport service links all the major sites on the island (Las Palmas,Playa del Ingles,Airport etc.) with the beach 15 minutes away,and for cyclists and walkers,you are within minutes of some of the most spectacular hills and valleys on the island.Â
    If history and archaeology are your interests,some of the best preserved ancient cave dwellings of the first inhabitants of Gran Canaria,many of which are still in use today, are within minutes of the town.
     The town itself has many beautifully preserved houses and public buildings,with a good range of restaurants and bars offering local dishes at good rates along with others offering modern European dishes. The main square outside the magnificent church holds many different events and attractions throughout the year,which you can watch and relax at the numerous small bars and cafes. Also a small local market is held every Thursday in the town.
     As a centre for visiting the whole island or just an easy relaxing holiday in the town,La Pileta offers the perfect solution.

Totally relaxing
We couldn't have wished for a better place to relax and explore the beautiful town and surrounding countryside. Martin,the owner is a really lovely man and made us very welcome. We decided to stay on for a further two weeks and ended up staying five weeks with plans to go back for further two weeks at the end of our holiday. Be prepared to feed the fish and terrapins for Martin when he's at work. All in all a wonderful place...can highly recommend.

Charming house in beautiful town
We (a cpuple with 2 adult children and one 10-year old) enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, old, Canarial house, centrally in the town of Agüimes. The house is not big but feels rather spacious. We cooked dinner every second day, and enjoyed our breakfast in the charming courtyard adorned with flowers in company with the 2 turtles (red-eared slider, actually tarantines). Tremendous joy for our kids, all ages. Agüimes offers pitoresque buildings and streets, and a perfect locations for trips to the mountains or towns. We went to the Southern coast twice, but prefered the sites not dominated by mass tourisms.
We will gladly return.

Great house, very good location
Wonderfull, very athmospheric house with great rustic design and attention to detail. Antique furnitures, wooden floors and ceilings, thick stone walls, lovely patio drowning in greenery and many beautifull handmade things. The photos on this web site don't give any adequate impression about how nice this house is in the reality, - we were very impressed when we arrived! Very friendly and welcoming owners don't speak much english, but we had no comunication problems at all, as they were always trying their best. The town itself is a delight, and it is a short drive to the southern beaches and just 5 minutes to the gourgeous Barranco de Guayadeque.
