We booked our trip a few months out during the pandemic but as our dates came closer it turned out we were unable to travel to Nica due to Covid restrictions. When I canceled we were informed we wouldn't be receiving a refund due to the proximity of our stay (three weeks). I contacted the owner and they initially refused any refund. After some strenuous negotiation, they agreed to only refund 25% of our costs. All of the other locations we booked understood that this was out of our control due to the pandemic and gave us a total refund. I guess this location was more concerned about taking our money than being reasonable people that understood this was out of all of our control. And it wasn't like they missed out on booking the house to someone else since all of the flights into Managua were cancelled. I generally don't book hotels anymore as I prefer the hospitality of privately owned homes, but this was the first time I felt like we were just a paycheck. I highly suggest avoiding this rental until this pandemic is over and even then, don't expect any common decency if you experience any unforeseen problems.

We stayed here with family and thoroughly enjoyed it. The property is amazing and so is the house. The house has more space than you'll need and the large decks are great for lounging in the hammocks or enjoying the farm view. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Ometepe Island on Lake Nicaragua is one of the world's great beauty spots (much admired by Mark Twain), and this secluded house, with its acres of private grounds, is the perfect place to experience the tranquility of the island. It's fully equipped down to linens, cutlery and wi-fi, and it's an ideal spot to explore the unique culture of the island by bike, car, or the funky local bus service. Bars, restaurants and grocery stores are conveniently close. The beach is a short bike ride away, the water is warm, even in December, and the views are breathtaking. We relaxed on the large decks in hammocks and spent many evenings enjoying wine by candlelight in the balmy tropical breeze, but don't stay up too late, because it's worth getting up early to sit on the balcony outside the bedroom and listen to the dawn chorus and the sound of the wind in the palm trees as the sun rises. Not to be missed.

Well I haven't been to all the houses on Ometepe but the place is huge and specious so I doubt there are any as large and nice as George's place. One of the biggest houses in Ometepe! George is great too. He has been going down there for years so really knows the area and a ton about Nicaragua. I can't wait to go back! Thanks for the amazing hospitality George!

George and Karen have taken great care in making a charming local feeling home with charming comfort throughout. There's incredible views mixed with a treehouse like feeling of being in the garden. It's ideally located in light of its "not far from town" and near to the famous spring swim spot where Tarzan seems to live. We look forward to our next visit and encourage anyone to hop on the great ferry and make the crossing to Ometepe to stay at this place

Loved loved the farm in Los Angeles, on Ometepe! George and Karen are fabulous hosts, the beds are comfy, the rooms are cool. There are two roomy bathrooms and there is HOT water. There are hammocks to siesta in and watch the horses frolicking. And the deck is ideal for watching the spectacular sunsets. It's easy to get around the island by scooter and there are plenty of bike choices free at the Finca Macedonia!
