there is a bar that is also visited by locals. A great opportunity to interact.

We live on the property ( our house ) , and we are always around to help you with your stay on our island, if needed.

Becuase we are a trhu island family we now where to go and show you the best places.
Go where the normal tourist don't go !
You stay with a family and they treat you like family!
I stayed here for three nights with my eighteen year old daughter and we couldn't be happier with our experience. The most important reason is you are actually staying with a Nicaraguan family that resides on Ometepe. You get a unique insight in to the everyday life of a family and their household. Its wonderful to see their extended family living on the property and neighbors stopping by to say hello or dropping off other fruits and vegetables. Wonderful to be woken up by their roosters and the howlers across the way.They treat you like family. By far the best food we had on the island that is cooked by the mother. My daughter is a vegan and they were wonderful to accommodate. We enjoyed our location about 3 miles out from Altagracia. This is a great access point for the bus to visit any point on the island. It was a short bus ride to some of the beaches and other restaurants for a change of pace. Marc, the son in law and very personable, runs the show and was very patient and immediately responded to all my gringo questions.He can set up any tours you need and arranged an ATV for us. Remember this is Ometepe and not a luxury hotel with wait staff in which to fill any need anytime. Beer and drinks are available anytime on the property. It was the best living arrangements during our trip. They are a wonderful family and truly reflect the graciousness, warmth and loving nature of the people from Nicaragua.

And we know how to cook veggitarian , Veggien and now even GLUTEN free...

Mark is an incredible host.
The installation were very basic, but for 10$ we weren't expecting more. The thing that made our stay enjoyable was Mark, the host. He would always help us whenever we'd need advices, give us extra sanitory equipements after it being stolen, and even have fun and sit with us at night. I had a hard time on ometepe having my bag stolen, but hospedaje las peñitas leaves me with a good taste of this island.

The bus stop is only 30 Meters from the house and we are situated in the middle of the island at the side of the mean round. 2.5 km from Altagracia.

so you are being sure you will arrive safe and without paying to much!.

From the port you take a bus to Altagracia,
By bus , taxi or bike, take direction Altagracia and ask the bus/taxi-driver for ' Hospedaje La Penita '.
( With your own transport ) Take the mean roud ( 64 ) to direction Alagracia, 400 meters after the bus-stop Del Quino, on the right side of the roud, its the house with the HOSPEDAJE LA PENITA sign .
