Are you ready to get away to someplace warm with your family and friends, but are concerned about how crowded the resorts will be? Then please consider our family's beach house at Playa Cofresi on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. We are not part of a resort - so your family and friends will be the only guests at Villa del Caribe. Enjoy the pool, the private outdoor verandas and the beach across the street from Caribe. But most important is our fantastic staff who will pamper you during your stay - to the point of sending you home with clean clothes (now that IS a vacation). Many guests stay for a long weekend or a week. But if you want to get away for longer -- even a month -- please let us know. We love long-term guests and can offer discounts based on the length of your stay....

Cleaning Protocol
Our friendly staff provides cleaning, meal preparation, local tour arrangements and spa services. They wear a mask and gloves at all times during interactions with our guests. Villa del Caribe is utilizing a 24 hour waiting period in between guest stays to ensure that our staff thoroughly completes the following:

We had an exceptional 11-day girls’ trip at Villa del Caribe. The neighborhood was clean and safe with the beach directly across the street. Chris has done an astounding job with the house and the grounds as they are just beautiful! The interior decor was a tasteful mix of tropical and bohemian and very comfortable. The house has several terraces to steal away for a nap. We spent every evening on the terrace that faced the ocean and had lots of impromptu dancing on the side terrace just off the kitchen with Franchesca and Maria teaching us the merengue. So much laughter and so much fun! We cannot say enough about how wonderful Franchesca, Maria, Mareno, and Jose were. The meals that Franchesca and Maria prepared were delicious and always served with an ice cold pitcher of frozen cocktails! Maria took exceptional care in doing our laundry and cleaning the villa. Mareno came each morning to clean and sweep the pool area and Jose was our nighttime security guard and took his duties very seriously. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we can’t wait to come back again.

Just perfect to create life long memories
Great location (near beach and restaurants), Great place (spacious, a/c, pools, cabana, pergola, balconies and beautifully furnished bedrooms and other rooms), Well maintained (every day and multiple time clean ups), Passionate and caring staff (cook, clean, wash, set up, other help to get around, friendly etc.), Helpful host, airport connections (nice guy and with Wi-Fi powered vehicles) and the whole stay was Safe (evening security).
Nicely supported especially if this is your first time to DR (it was for us). Kids wants to be not only back to Puerto Plata, but also want the same place. :-)
Money well spent. Love this business.

WONDERFUL!
Such a wonderful way to visit the DR. Full staffed with fantastic cook who will prepare any/all meals you wish. The pool is beautifully maintained and the rooms are gorgeous. We traveled with our teenage daughters and older children and everyone had their own room and bathroom. There are balconies for everyone to relax on and enjoy the view of the ocean. When we weren't out on excursions, we enjoyed playing croquet on their back lawn and board games in the extra large family room. Chris and Mark are fabulous hosts--thank you for a lovely week!

One of our best family vacation yet.
The Staff was awsome. So helpful and informative. Very hard working. Franchesca, Maria and Moreno were like family. It was hard saying good bye. We definitely will consider going back.

A true find!!
Villa del Caribe in Puerto Plata is the most comfortable, beautifully maintained and located holiday villa a big family or group of friends could ask for. The location is stunning almost right on the beach, the pool is lovely, the house with the big living/dining room, five spacious, well furnished bedrooms and six comfortably furnished terraces is beautiful and very well kept. And then there is Francesca, Maria and Moreno, who lovingly take care of the house, the garden and especially the lucky guests. Food is prepared, dishes are washed, clothes are laundered, cocktails and drinks prepared - and all with beautiful, happy smiles. One feels so spoiled at Villa del Caribe!
The owners are kind and helpful with suggestions and information and will patiently answer any questions till the day before you head for Puerto Plata, and the price is very fair, because you are truly treated to a wonderful holiday.

An oasis of charm, beauty, and relaxation.
I can't recommend Villa Caribe highly enough. Under ordinary circumstances, I would give it five stars, but our circumstances were far from ordinary, and the owners and staff far exceeded our expectations.
My friends and I were staying in the village of Las Terrenas, about three hours away from Puerto Plata by car, when protests broke out in that village and we decided we needed to leave. We started searching the Internet for another place to stay on Tuesday afternoon. By Tuesday night we had confirmed our reservation at Villa Caribe with Chris, one of the owners, and by Wednesday early afternoon we were there. The response time and customer service on the booking end were absolutely amazing.
We were so grateful and relieved to be away from the riots in Las Terrenas that we would have been happy with almost anything, but we were in for a major treat. Not only did we not have to settle; Villa Caribe was an order of magnitude nicer than anything we had expected. (Why the owners don't have photos of the gorgeous interior of the home, I don't know.) High ceilings, light and airy rooms, huge beds, many various community areas, a generous kitchen, a lovely pool, beautifully manicured grounds, and a view--and the sounds--of the ocean across the street?! Who could have imagined?
Oh, and let's not forget the funny, super-helpful, friendly, English-speaking staff. When we arrived we were ravenous, and found Francesca and Maria fixing dinner (it smelled heavenly). We had brought with us some cooked potatoes and hard-boiled eggs, leftovers brought along on our mad dash out of our previous lodging. Francesca said, "Why don't I make you some potato salad so you can eat right away?" This she did, in the span of about ten minutes. My husband is a chef and I watched his face as he tasted it. One bite and he was sold: "This lady can COOK!" No kidding. Each meal that Francesca and Maria prepared for us was absolutely wonderful (I highly recommend the dorado in coconut sauce!). They washed and folded our laundry, helped us set up taxis and activities, literally fixed us drinks and brought them out to the pool, always kept the house sparkling, and maintained an upbeat, friendly demeanor every moment.
Sorry to gush--but you had to understand why I couldn't possibly recommend Villa Caribe any more highly. Thanks SO MUCH to Chris, Francesca, Maria, Marino, and Gus (who coordinated our activities). My only regret is that we didn't begin our vacation at Villa Caribe.

FANTASTIC
If your trip is to Dominican Republic, you must stay here. Beautiful home, great staff and very helpful owners (Mark and Chris). We never tired of the view from the verandas of the beach or the grounds which are absolutely beautiful. When you tire from your adventures, the pool and the palapa is the place to be. We simply could not stay out of the pool. Moreno keeps it perfect and even collected yard grown coconut and mango from the trees. Our meals were cooked and served beautifully by Francisca. Villa De Caribe is wonderful, clean and spacious. The home is the envy of people who wished they had stayed HERE! We never regretted our decision of booking this home, but you will regret it if you don't. We stayed here with our great friends Lynn and John and we would love to stay here again. DON'T MISS THIS ONE.

About the neighbourhood
Playa Cofresi is a wonderful place for those who want a relaxing Dominican experience, but aren't interested in (or are tired of) the all-inclusive scene. Just walk along the beach, and you'll see and meet a wide range of people, all of whom are enjoying simply being at Cofresi. Tourists from the US and Europe mingle easily with Dominicans. On the beach, language is not a barrier -- a simple 'Hola!' and a smile are all that is needed.
There is also a thriving (and often quirky) community of expats who have washed up on the shores of Cofresi. Most of them have come from the US, Canada, Germany and the UK. Just pull up a seat at Chris & Mady's bar, or the bar at the Beach House restaurant and strike up a conversation. Everyone has a story that they are happy to share over a Margarita or a Rum & Coke. In no time at all, it will be easy to think that you're in the middle of a Jimmy Buffet song!

How to get there
Arrival Instructions
Please wear a face mask while you are at your hometown airport, on plane, and at all times in the airport. Your temperature will be taken upon arrival, and it is a quick and easy check in process to the Domican Republic airport. One of our staff will be wearing a mask and waiting for you right outside of baggage claim, holding a sign with your name on it. You and your group will be escorted on a drive that is less than an hour in a thoroughly sanitized vehicle. Upon arrival, feel free to make our home your home and enjoy the entire house and outdoor pavilions, complete with several patios, balconies and a luxurious and sanitized outdoor pool.
Playa Cofresi is located on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. You can reach our beach by flying into either Puerto Plata (POP) airport (a 30 minute drive from Playa Cofresi) or Santiago (STI) airport (approximately 60 minutes drive from Playa Cofresi).
United, Jet Blue, Delta, and American Airlines all service these airports from the US. Air Canada, Air Transat and WestJet provide service from Canada. There are also regularly scheduled charter flights from Europe.
