Whirlygig Cottage is a newly restored fishermans' cottage in a quiet part of historic Penzance renting from Sat-Sat. A 2 minute walk from the harbourside rail and bus station makes this the perfect base for exploring SW Cornwall without a car. With its contemporary/retro styling the one bedroom cottage offers natural slate floors with underfloor heating, fully equiped kitchen, TV/DVD, modern bathroom and kingsize bed. We wanted something warm, comfortable and easily managed from which to explore Penzance, our favourite town in our favourite part of Britain. Living in the French countryside we love being able to walk out to the independent shops (and late night supermarkets), galleries, cafes, restaurants, independant cinema and Acorn centre all minutes away. Penzance is a real town not just a tourist spot but just as charming as any but with better amenities. There are tropical gardens and exotic plantings everywhere. The coastal path starts 1-200m from the house and goes to Marazion and st Michaels Mount 2.5miles to the left or Newlyn then Mousehole 2 miles to your right. There are plenty of cafes en route. Wildlife spotting boat trips from the harbour are remarkably successful in summer with seals, dolphins and basking sharks commonly sigthed and loggerheads, sunfish and small whales as rarer treats. Seals and ravens, rarely choughs can be seen from the coastal path, especially out of season. More

Lovely cottage, very central, small but cosy and really comfortable. Wonderful walks across to Mousehole. Didn't want for anything except the instructions for the cottage which had gone missing! Thanks Lynn and Scott for your kindness and hospitality.

The nicely remodeled row house is especially convenient for train travelers arriving at the end of the Great Western Railway intent on reaching Penzance and Land’s End. It’s a short walk from the station. The place was very thoughtfully redone especially the large bath and...More

As we know Penzance well, we knew where we wanted to be. Near the train and bus station and near our favourite pub, The Lamp & Whistle. This place is literally 50 meters from the pub, and just a bit further to the train station....More

We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage is very clean and cosy, felt there like at home. Just few minutes away local shops, pubs, harbour. Good connection to the places we planned to visit. Would definitely recommend it.

Thanks for that. The things you likes were the things which first tempted us to buy and restore it. Glad you enjoyed Penzance, all the best, Lynn and Scott
