Cliff Lodge is an amazing house located in the beautiful village of Maidencombe. The house itself boasts uninterrupted panoramic sea views from the stunning glass balconies situated around the house. The property has recently been refurbished to an exceptionally high standard which enhances the natural beauty of the surroundings. The house has something for everyone and is the perfect location for any sort of celebration or just a relaxing week with family or friends. Cliff Lodge sleeps up to twelve adults and if required there are two put up-beds which can be used for young children. There are also two travel cots provided. The styled bedrooms are all individually decorated with their own unique characteristics. Fantastic
Stayed here with our children and grandchildren aged from 11/2 yrs to 66 it was fantastic. From the house, to the games room, pool, and gardens it was wonderful. The newly fitted kitchen glass panels this house is fabulous. Will definitely stay again thank you Rob & Alison your house is fantastic and the welcome hamper was well and truly enjoyed.

Fantastic place for a family holiday.
Ten of us, aged from five to seventy, stayed in Cliff Lodge last week and couldn't have wished for a better place to stay. The location is fantastic with wonderful views over the huge garden and along the Jurassic Coast. We saw dolphins, seals, foxes and buzzards all from the vantage points of the many balconies that adorn the property. Everyone enjoyed the pool, which is easily large enough for ten people, the hot tub and the games room, or 'Party Room' as the younger members of the family called it. Maidencombe Beach is only five minutes walk away, though it takes somewhat longer to walk back up the steep hill. The beach is delightful and we enjoyed our early morning swims in the sea as we were lucky enough to stay in a heatwave. The South West Coastal Path is easily accessible at the bottom of the garden and we thoroughly enjoyed the walks in both directions. Finally I must thank Rob and Alison for all their help during the uncertain period leading up to our holiday when the situation with the Coronavirus pandemic gave us much cause for concern.

Cliff Lodge
We stayed here a couple of weeks ago. The swimming pool, games room and views were wonderful. The owners were very friendly and responsive. However, the house is in need of updating and was not clean. The kitchen was a particular problem. Overall we had a lovely week but the cleaning needs to be of a higher standard.

Thank you for your review and we appreciate your comments. In reply to a couple of your observations we were aware the house was in need of updating and with this in mind we have spent a substantial amount of money on cliff lodge. Unfortunately not all the work could be done in the lock down period due to time constraints. The kitchen and conservatory area is being completely refurbished in November as well as a new bespoke table and chairs and various other improvements. We are also putting in a new stair case with glass bannisters which will hopefully look amazing and add to the glass balconies that were recently added around the house. We were disappointed to hear that the cleanliness was not as you hoped. We have been fully booked since the 4th July and this is the first time we have had any problems. We have employed extra cleaners and also added an extra 2 hours cleaning to ensure the house is both clean and safe for all guests. We are delighted you had a lovely week and we look forward to welcoming you back to cliff lodge and we are confident you will be very happy with the improvements we have made to the property

Lovely place to chill out
Hired house for the weekend with family and friends. The house had everything we needed to chill out for the weekend, in fact due to serious virus outbreak in UK we did not leave the house. Even had local resturants deliver our food. Excellent facilities, could of not asked for more (loved the pool and games room). Awesome views of the coast and sea from nearly every window. Had problem with the heating but owner and plumber really quick to resolve issue. We were gutted to leave. I would highly recommend this house to rent. Hope to re-visit one day. Thank you Alison.

Perfect family celebration house
So pleased we decided on Cliff Lodge, to get family & friends together to celebrate my daughters 30th birthday, ages ranged from 4 years to 71 years, everyone had an amazing time. We decorated the bar in the games room out as a tropical cocktail bar( especially for cocktail lover daughter) was an ideal room, especially with music supplied from the jukebox, men played snooker, kids played table football, while the girls sang along or danced the night away. Rest of the weekend was spent swimming(2 or 3 times a day) hot tub as frequently, sauna by the men mostly( sweating out the night before) We cooked a few times, in the very well stocked kitchen, pots galore, ample tableware, every utensil going, spices & condiments supplied too. Bedrooms were comfortable, with lots of storage & views to die for, in some rooms, lovely cosy conservatory, two sitting rooms, with large tv's & board games, two dining tables, a gym, So much was there for our entertainment, could go on & on & on & on :)

I am trying to say something that hasn’t already been said but that’s impossible The house it’s self is amazing with three of the top bedrooms having a balcony to sit on to take in the fantastic views. The only noise you hear is of the birds which makes it so relaxing. Our six grandchildren spent so much time in the pool or playing table tennis or snooker. There are some fantastic walks from the house, although quite testing but worth the effort. Thank you Alison we hope to go back soon

Perfect holiday home!
We stayed at Cliff Lodge for a family holiday (our 50th wedding anniversary). There were 3 generations, and we had a fabulous time. The weather was a mixed bag but it didn't bother us, we had great fun in the indoor pool and the games room, and the juke box was a stroke of genius on the part of the owner, Alison! Although the beach is quite close by - good for boys to fish for crabs and prawns - you really don't need to leave the property if you don't want to. Well equipped kitchen, plenty of televisions for the telly fans, board games, everything you could need. If you want to explore there are some nice walks and it's not far by car to Torquay and other bigger resorts. The nearby pub, The Thatched Tavern, is lovely and the food is excellent. Brilliant holiday, can't fault it.

Home from home
This will be our fourth year in a row visiting Cliff Lodge and I can't wait to walk through the door next week. The house is so inviting and the views are breathtaking. We rarely leave the property because it is so well appointed. June 2017

Stunning
What can I say that hasn't already been said! This house is absolutely stunning with sea views to die for, even on a cloudy day. Seeing the sun rise on at least 2 occasions was something not to be missed from here as it was right in front of you. The house has everything (and more) that you could possibly need for a holiday.. Swimming pool, sauna, hot tub, gym, plus a full size snooker table with an adjacent bar plus so many big rooms that even with a party of 12 adults & 2 small children it never felt crowded. The only downside (& there was only one) was that the water pipes seem to have an airlock as they continually made a "drumming" sound overnight from different places in the house so I hope this gets fixed very soon. So if you are looking for a fantastic holiday let - this is it!

Cannot fault anything
We stayed here for my 50th birthday. 5 couples all of similar age. I NEVER rate anything 10/10, ( always room for improvement. ) I've been trying all week to think of something that would have improved our stay. I haven't yet thought of anything. Thank you Alison for the wine and chocolates on arrival. Doesn't really matter which bed room you choose they all have ample storage space. The social areas are vast and you can easily all be accommodated in the dinning room, kitchen or large sitting room. ( or stick the kids in the second lounge ). Good to see that left over food items don't get removed like in some places. ( tea bags, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc). The setting is on a cliff headland with fantastic views. ( especially from the master suit). The accommodation is well equipped throughout. Comfortable and stylish ( not filled with lots of mismatched stuff). We spent the weekend in the hot tub, playing snooker, swimming and walking to the beach ( via the thatched tavern pub),. Can't wait to come back again though looking at availability I think we'll struggle to get in. Thank you once again.
