Lark Lane is one of Liverpool’s hidden gems, nestled between Sefton Park and Aigburth Road to the south of the city centre. If you’re planning on visiting Sefton Park, Lark Lane is an ideal choice for a spot of retail therapy followed by lunch or dinner. It’s referred to as ‘The Lane’ by locals and boasts a pretty eclectic mix of unique and independent shops, bars and restaurants. If you want to feel just like a local ‘The Old Police Station’ is a community centre housed within a beautiful old building at the heart of the Lane. The centre hosts a number of regular events from holistic healing to craft fairs, flea markets and pop up cafes. If you quite fancy yourself getting crafty, Arts 47 is an initiative run by local artists, designers and crafters. They offer workshops in arts and crafts skills. If you prefer to keep your hands clean, their store sells locally designed and produced artwork, jewellery, knitwear, cards and other unique gifts. Liverpool is not a city whose cultural cuisine offer falls short. Lark Lane is filled with restaurants serving a wide range of cuisine from countries all over the world. If you want to take a few tips from the professionals, top tips include relaxing in Moon and Pea with a ‘pimped up’ hot chocolate and a slice of cake. Try Elif for an authentic Turkish barbeque complete with open grill and friendly chefs. Spice up your life at Chilli Banana, a favourite of the locals that serves a fine Thai curry. Or on a hot day, visit the authentic Italian ice cream parlour, Gelato where delicious ice cream is served with a mini coffee on the side, affogato style. Or if you’re keeping it British, try The Tea House for a very traditional afternoon tea experience, serving loose leaf tea from a local tea company alongside your food. They even have a Scouse blend! When the sun has set, Lark Lane really comes alive with the bars and restaurants brimming with people. Que Pasa has an intimate beer garden to the rear for enjoying those summer evenings. You will also find traditional British pubs and the Lodge has a wide range of real ales for sampling. Back to that retail therapy, Lark Lane has a mix of alternative vendors to suit any taste. If you’d like to browse Vintage and retro clothing and furniture, visit Larks. Their warehouse, Gasp on neighbouring Lucerne Street houses a wide range of retro furnishings. For antiques and curios, Remains To Be Seen never fails to disappoint. The street is a hub of community activity and has a lively bustling vibe day and night. To get to the Lane, hop on the number 82 bus from Liverpool ONE bus station, take the train to St Michael’s Station or you could even hire a City Bike.More
