About the neighbourhood
Edinburgh is the cosmopolitan and cultural capital city of Scotland with many famous tourist attractions such as Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, the Queens official residence, the Scottish Parliament, museums, art galleries, theatres etc and is home to a number of festivals including the renowned Edinburgh International Festival and its Fringe - the largest arts festival in the world - and the Edinburgh International Film Festival. As well as being a major European cultural capital and UNESCO World Heritage site, Edinburgh has more restaurants per head of population than anywhere else in the UK.
Getting around
Edinburgh is a 'walkable' city and best seen on foot. There are numerous bus stops on Princes St and the local bus company, Lothian Buses has an excellent app to help you find your way. The public buses accept only exact change and sell both single tickets and unlimited day tickets. There are numerous Hop on, Hop off buses which stop near the main sites.
