Positioned in the centre of Historical Rome, between the ancient Roman ruins, it maintaines however its refined elegance and exclusivity. The square takes its name from the Building built in 1450 by Cardinal Domenico Capranica to host the College for the education of the clergy, the first seminary ever opened in Rome and is the only example of Roman novel architectural style. The monuments and places of interest in this neighbourhood are several: Basilica of San Lorenzo in Lucina, Santa Maria in Aquiro, St. Mary Magdalen, St. Joseph at Capo le Case. Palazzo Chigi (since 1961, is the seat of the Italian government and residence of the President of the Council of Ministers), Palazzo Montecitorio (seat of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Republic), the Gallery Alberto Sordi (formerly Galleria Colonna) opened in 1922 and refurbished in 2003 taking the name of Alberto Sordi. Behind Piazza Capranica there is Piazza della Rotonda, which is home to the Pantheon, built as a temple to all the gods past, present and future, founded in 27 BC by Agrippa, son of Augustus. A few steps from the square there are some of the most elegant streets of Rome, home to the Maison of the biggest fashion venues. Also nearby you can find Via del Corso, the main shopping street, with its luxury brand shops as well as also stores of the most famous low-cost chains. Additional amenities: Full KitchenMore
