Once home to the workers from the local Shoe Factory in the centre of the village, Three Bears Cottage comprises of a lounge, kitchen/diner, shower room and two bedrooms - one double and one twin. In the lounge there is a wood burning stove in an inglenook fireplace and two double seater setees. In the kitchen, there is gas aga and seating area for four. The cottage is about a 10 min walk from the village centre but only a couple of minutes from the craft centre, tea room, village hall and museum (worth a visit) and right next to a corner shop selling very good fresh fruit and veg....More

We stayed here with friends in this Lovely cosy cottage for 4 nights, loved the Aga and the delicious food cooked in it, didn’t use the wood burner as the Aga warmed the cottage up nicely, Elaine provided us with all the information we needed,...More

Had a lovely stay at Three Bears Cottage. The heatwave was wonderful Derbyshire bathed in lovely warm sun Three Bears suited us perfectly. 3 adults and two dogs enough room for us all. what can I say about using an Aga we now consider ourselves...More

About the neighbourhood
Eyam is known as the plague village. In 1665, so the story goes, a tailor from London stayed the night in Eyam. It was wet and his cloth was damp so they put it in front of the fire to dry out. Unbeknown to the tailor and his landlady the cloth was full of plague spores and as the cloth dried they were released into the air. The tailor died and, one by one, so did the people of Eyam. Realising the severity of the situation, they all agreed to voluntarily quarantine themselves so prevent further spread of the disease. The Eyam museum tells the story and the tragic and the uplifting stories that came out of that terrible time. ... but there is more to Eyam that the plague story.
