L'Ancienne Sellerie is a stunning spacious village house in a wine producing village in the Corbieres near to Carcassonne, Lagrasse, Cathar castles and the Mediterranean. It has a three star rating with Meubles de Tourisme ( Gites de France) Renovated in 2015 , the house, which is on three floors, has four double bedrooms and three bathrooms (details below), lounge, dining room, and kitchen, sunny terrace and garage. As well as family groups we often have just a couple who like the space offered by having the whole house. The house (not including garage ) ,measures 136 sq metres . The rooms have large double glazed windows with roll down blinds and decorative green wooden shutters. Oil central heating (new boiler July 2019) throughout and woodburning stove . Ideal for meals outside and enjoying the sunshine. • Well-equipped newly fitted kitchen with, dishwasher, oven, hob, wood burner, microwave etc . Very well equipped • Dining room with arch though to kitchen – lovely old French dresser and large table with seating for 8 • Utility room with washing machine, fridge/freezer, shelves Second floor • Master bedroom with double bed, new (2015) ensuite shower room with shower, pedestal washbasin, heated towel rail and WC. 32 inch TV. Lovely views over terracotta tiled rooftops to the open hills beyond • Two more double bedrooms, one with double bed and one with twin beds – also with village and country views • Large shower room with shower, washbasin and WC Each bedroom has a wardrobe or fitted cupboard, chair, chest of drawers, bedside tables and hairdryer. About the neighbourhood
Montlaur, a small village of less than 600 residents, is also a thriving little centre for the six villages in the Val de Dagne and has a post office, traditional baker's, pharmacy, small supermarket, butcher's 's plus five different wine producers providing wine tasting in the village. Market stalls with organic bread, local produce including fruit vegetables and cheeses, and of course wine tasting take place twice a week . There is a small children's well equipped play area and pleasant park. There are numerous fetes and village festivals during the summer where you can participate in village meals and dance to live music.. Petanque is the favourite sport. Getting around
While we have had occasional guests who come without car and who enjoy walking and cycling and using the early once daily school bus (open to public) to Carcassonne, most people will prefer to have a car available.
