About the neighbourhood
Vivo d'Orcia is a small hamlet on Amiata Mountain, located in the middle of Orcia Valley (Val d'Orcia), awarded 'UNESCO World Heritage Status'. Walk a few steps from home to find yourselves thrown back into the Medieval atmosphere of the Hermitage, legacy of the ancient Camaldolese monastery, acquired in 1538 by the Counts Cervini family, whose descendants still dwell in the castle. Around the house and the small village you can find chestnut, beech and fir forests, streams of crystal clear waters and natural waterfalls. Numerous guided trails lead you to discover the richness of nature. Many outdoor activities can be experienced all the year round: hot springs, skiing, horse riding, mountain biking, sport fishing, wine and cheese tasting.
Getting around
The hamlet of Vivo d'Orcia is so small that it can be walked through in a few minutes. The village has essential shops, a small supermarket, a bank and a church. More shops are in the near city of Abbadia San Salvatore, 15 minutes drive from Vivo d'Orcia.
