A shower room and toilet is also located on the ground floor.
A charming spiral staircase leads to the two bedrooms; one double and one twin. Warm and comfortable - affording a perfect restful sleep to weary guests after an exhilarating day’s riding!
We provide all bed linen, towels, logs for the fire. We also have a brand new laundry room for communal use.
Please note that access to Gilfach Farm is down (and up) a rather steep track, thus may not be suitable for particularly low-slung vehicles! The uneven nature of the terrain around Gilfach, and the spiral staircase within the Cottage, may present a difficulty to those with restricted mobility. Should you have any concerns regarding these matters, please contact us.
Stayed at Gilfach for 4 days in the summer holidays. It's a really peaceful location despite bring only 5 min off the main road. The only noises we heard were from animals - both wild and on the farm. If anything the information we received understated what we were getting. The bbq hut is amazing - brilliantly equipped and great views down the valley as the sun goes down. There is other holiday accommodation on the farm, but everything is so well laid out that we barely noticed any other guests. Looking forward to returning to visit in other seasons of the year.

A Very Enjoyable Stay!
We stayed at cosy barn cottage for one night! The owner Hugh is very welcoming and helpful. The cottage is one of the only places I’ve been that actually looks better in real life than the pictures! Just lovely! Stunning surroundings and the cottage was well equipped and immaculately clean! By far the best pet friendly holiday we’ve been on and we’re looking forward to our next stay!

Friendly host, well equipped accommodation and a glorious location
Lovely setting in a gorgeous part of the world which is equally conducive to relaxing and watching the world go by as to taking a hike up a big hill and being blown away by the incredible scenery.
The barn was well equipped and cosy and the atmosphere was very laid back which made for a very relaxing, stress-free break.
Having never taken the dogs on holiday before it was such a relief to be welcomed unreservedly by both the owner and Oscar, the resident pooch, and we all felt at home very quickly.
We will certainly return!

lovely cottage
Cosy cottage in delightful setting. Plenty of walks nearby. Our dog soon settled in and searched out Oscar for walks and sniffing about.
Could use some new plates and bowls in the kitchen, and a filled salt mill would be a useful addition.

Hidden hideaway with endless charm
Spent one fantastic night in this out of the way cottage. Hugh had the cottage very well prepared, and we were delighted with the space. The cottage is cozy and well appointed. The beds are super comfy and the views are incredible. My suggestion is to spend some time walking around the property and let Oscar show you around. (Oscar is the lovely dog who is happy to spend time with you.) It is a working farm and Hugh let my girls spend some time in the barn seeing the horses. It is a lovely place and I would be happy to go back.

Serene, isolated, perfection.
There is no shortage of great accommodation options in the Brecon Beacons and I have stayed in many different places, but there is something special for me about Gilfach. The secluded valley, driving your car through a little stream as you approach the farm down a narrow track, the friendly dogs on the farm that greet you, and the owner's hospitality and willingness to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The accommodation itself is clean, cosy and quiet, and very warm. You really need a week here to unwind and soak up the beauty of this location, a weekend not being nearly enough.

Best kept secret in the Brecon Beacons
Stop trawling through dog friendly ,self catering reviews! This is the best kept secret hide out in the Breacon Beacons. The cottage itself is a gem, plenty of wood for the wood burning fire, duck and hen eggs fresh from the farm or the one up the road, walks right from your door with breathtaking views and the wonderfully friendly laid back owner Hugh and his equally friendly chilled out dog Oscar. Every day we had a different walk with our collie dog who was surely in dog heaven !! Lovely hot and powerful shower, and very comfy beds. We could not fault it.On top of this,as this is an equestrian farm, you can say hello to all the beautiful liveried horses. We were lucky with the weather but even if it had been pouring with rain, the cottage is full of books and games. Highly recommended. Enjoy. We will be back next year.
