Located approximately three hours from the airport in Guatemala City, Panajachel is the welcoming town of Lake Atitlan, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world according to A. Huxley. Friendly, Central, Affordable Digs With Accomodating Host
Over the last 30 years I have been to Panachajel about a dozen times. Some things have changed, yet to me Pana and the other villages surrounding Lake Atitlan remain essentially the same. Each time I visit I leave knowing I will return. And perhaps one day I will simply remain there...
Staying 10 days at Posada Vida Dulce was a very positive experience. With one bedroom available for rental, Elizabeth & Stephen offer a comfortable and warm welcome to the traveler. From a roof top deck with views of both city and volcano to very agreeable accommodations I found their unique location to be a pleasant interlude to my meandering journey around southern Mexico and Central America.
During this my first visit to Posada Vida Dulce, Steve was hosting solo as Elizabeth was on a trip to the US. At various interludes during my stay he was kind enough to introduce me to select portions of Pana which is now home to my hosts.
In closing I would say if you want agreeable English / Spanish speaking hosts providing a comfortable room in a typical Guatemalan neighborhood near to Santander you should try Posada Vida Dulce.

About the neighbourhood
Panajachel is a large village with public transportation via tuk-tuks. People walk and also use bicycles, motos, and cars. The village is directly on Lake Atitlan and boats leave from two docks to go to the villages across the lake. There are many international and regional restaurants, shopping and cultural centers and sites. There are ATM machines, banks and grocery stores. Our home is located directly between two of the main shopping and tourist sites on a small alley. We are within three blocks of the lake and restaurants and shopping within 100 M. ( It is not accessible by car)

How to get there
The two main streets in Panajachel proper are Santander and Rancho Grande. Our house is 40m from calle rancho grande 80m from Santander.
To find our home from Santander, which is the main street with lots of shops and restaurants: - We are located between the streets- 14 and 15 de febrero on callejón Los Quenun; it is a small alley-way. Please look for these landmarks- Travel agency Turisticos Atitlan and restaurant Valentino's. They are within 100 M of 14 de febrero. The callejon has a bright yellow sign that says Hotel Los Angeles. Walk down the callejon about 80 M. Our house is 2-41 and there is a sign for Elisabeth Cascada- The doorbell is on the wall on the upper left.
