Incredible property

What an amazing place! We highly recommend! 9 adults, plenty of space, excellent location with beach access! Would definitely stay here again!

This villa is truly special. We were a group of 10 (5 couples including our adult daughters and boyfriends) staying at the house for 10 days. The photos online just don’t do it justice and the sunsets from the large outdoor living space and infinity pool were breathtaking. The villa is set up almost like a small compound with separate buildings housing the stunning master bedroom, large casita and separate king room over one garage. The main house has 2 bedrooms across the hall from each other, one has a very comfortable king with en-suite and the other has 2 single beds which can easily be pulled together to make a king bed. It has an en-suite bathroom, as do all of the rooms. There is a covered patio above the other garage (6th unfinished room) which we were able to access and gave incredible 360 views of the surrounding Playa Flamingo, Playa Potrero and the hills behind. There is a working gas BBQ which we used to grill fresh fish and steaks as well as sausages for breakfast. The pool is magnificent and we spent many hours in the 29-30degree Celsius water, watching distant boats go by or the manta rays that were constantly jumping out of the water below us. The house is set fairly high above Flamingo beach, but has a wonderful private cement staircase going down to a private part of the beach. The snorkelling off the rocks just down the point from the house was excellent and we saw many species of fish, as well as a sea turtle, moray eel and even an octopus. Kayaks or paddle boards can be rented at Margaritaville just down the beach or from the diving centre near the marina on the other side of the peninsula. There are lots of restaurants and bars in the area to choose from, including a number you can walk to. We highly recommend Amigos Tacos at the bottom of the road next to the little grocery store that also carries wine and cold beer (very important). Yesenia, the housekeeper, was absolutely great. She came almost every day to clean and provide fresh linens and on our third day the air conditioning in the master stopped working. Within 2 hours she had a technician there to assess the problem and by the end of the day we had a brand new unit in our room. You can’t get that kind of service in North America or Europe. I could go on, but will leave off by saying this home is perfect for a family group or group of friends. You will love it. We’ll be back.

We were a group of 4 couples and stayed at Villa Sunset for two weeks. The villa was beautiful. We watched the sunset every day from beside or in the pool. There are a lot of steps to the beach but the beach is worth it. We didn’t have any trouble finding any equipment that we needed. I like a soft bed and my only complaint is the mattress was a bit to firm for my liking. This is a personal preference though and doesn’t affect my overall rating. Quick responses were always received from the owner. Thank you for sharing your lovely property!

We stayed at this property with our parents and our 16 month old for just over a week, and had a fantastic time. The view from the terrace is even better in real life (it is very beautiful), and having direct access to the beach was wonderful (even if it was 100+ steps to get down, we felt it was good exercise!). The beach itself is beautiful and not very busy, and the neighborhood was friendly and safe, with some great restaurants nearby. It was lovely to hear the ocean from our room at the house. We also loved the pool and the outdoor seating. There were a couple issues with the house that Dietmar was quick to help us fix (ie coffee makers and toaster weren’t working, but they quickly replaced them) and Yesenia the housekeeper also diligently helped us when things weren’t working properly (ie cable wasn’t connected, or remotes to the automatic shades needed new batteries). The water at the house stopped working a few times for hours, the cause of which was a little unclear, but ultimately didn’t affect our stay too much, and we appreciated Yesenias efforts to call in workers to fix it. The internet is very, very bad. Whether this is a problem with the house or the region remains unclear, but do not expect functioning WiFi. A few little things would have made our experience even better, such as a high chair for our toddler (we were very grateful for the travel crib that was provided to us though), use of an umbrella for the beach (just tough to find a place on the beach with any shade, and nowhere to rent umbrellas), a plunger in each bathroom (only one in the whole house and it did not work well), or designated beach towels (we were not permitted to use the pool towels on the beach). Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Costa Rica, and feel very lucky to have stayed at this house! Would recommend to others for sure.

The property was more than we expected. The views, rooms, pool and privacy make this property worth it. There are air conditioners in all the rooms. The property has a main house with two bedrooms, casita by the pool, a room with a bathroom above the garage, a future room with a bathroom above the other garage, a guess house with separate kitchen and living room. There is a laundry room as well. It does have private beach access but there are 186 step. This made it difficult for our parents to walk up. However, the beach is a two minute drive. The internet service was a little slow without 2.4 or 5 GHz modem/router. Not a big deal just made it difficult when two or three people were trying to plan daily activities on the internet. Finding the place wasn't to hard. You will cross over a bridge then as you past Grill and Chill take the first right up the hill. Then look for the wall with an arch entry as you drive up the hill on the left. probably 0.2 of a mile after you turned right. If you google map Margaritaville the property is north of it right next door to Villa la Sata. I would recommend this place to anyone and would stay at this house again.

Really enjoyed the house and the location we travel to Playa Flamingo every year and have stayed at many properties, I would highly recommend this house to anyone.

This property was absolutely beautiful - the views were stunning! The house was so well-equipped, from towels to kitchen equipment to board games!! We had a fantastic time and would love to go back!

Spent a glorious weak at this beautiful Villa with children, partners and grandchildren. A castle on the hill in paradise.

We spent a week with 2 families at sunset villa. The pictures do not do the property justice. The sunsets every night we’re awesome. There were plenty of places for all the family to get together or find their own private space. To get awesome views but still have access to beach is going to require some steps but it is worth the extra cardio. The beach is postcard beautiful and there was never more than a scattering of people. When we went for runs in the morning I felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves. Dietmar was very responsive to questions about home and quickly arranged for ac repair to check out one of the units when we commented to housekeeper yesenia that it was leaking ( although it was always working) . The WiFi was spotty at times. It was not likely the problem of the property itself , but I welcomed the chance for my kids to be unplugged. We would definitely return again if we came back to Costa Rica.
