A short drive will bring you to the wonders of the Sierra foothills and tLhe gold rush era. Beautiful scenery, pristine forests, river crossings with amazing swimming spots, hiking trails, and historic gold mining towns, some still with residents, some with only the local ghosts roaming the streets. About the neighbourhood
Nevada City is a perfectly preserved Victorian town on the Register of Historic Places. It dates back to the California Gold Rush era, and was the northern capital of the gold mining region along Highway 49. There are many historic buildings in town, including the oldest operating theater in the West, and the original assay office for the gold mining industry of the 1800's. The town is filled with beautiful old Victorian buildings, both homes and businesses. Spring, summer and fall are gorgeous for outdoor activities. Getting around
The house is right on the main street of Nevada City, just on the edge of the commercial district in a very private setting, but easy walking distance to everything in town. A car is needed for exploring the beautiful natural surroundings and for accessing hiking trails, swimming holes, and historic sites.
