About the neighbourhood
The Pass Creek Yurt is nestled in a sunny spot in the Rio Grande National Forest in southwestern Colorado at 10,250 feet, 800 feet below the Continental Divide. It is located 20 miles SW of South Fork, Colorado and 33 miles by road from Pagosa Springs. In summer enjoy the gentle one-mile walk to the Pass Creek Yurt while settling into the peaceful silence broken only by the breeze through the pines and the burbling creeks, as you pass under the soaring hawk and by the brilliant wildflowers. The Pass Creek Yurt is surrounded by meadow, forest, creeks, elk, deer. World class hiking, mountain biking, and trail running at your doorstep in summer. Amazing backcountry skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing in winter. Fish for the rare Rio Grande Rainbow Trout a one and a half mile hike a...
How to get there
Directions: Turn off Highway 160 onto the Pass Creek/FS RD 390. Drive 5.7 miles (good gravel road). At 5.7 miles park on 390 or at the locked, green Forest Service gate. Don’t block the gate. WALK/bike the ONE MILE to the PCY. Elevation gain is minimal with the steepest bit just before the Yurt. Stay on the obvious road. When you see the yellow truck you are nearly there. The Pass Creek Road (Forest Road 390) is 30.3 miles NE of Pagosa Springs, 6 miles E of Wolf Creek Pass, or 12.5 miles SW of South Fork on US Highway 160.
