The ski base of Winter Park is only 2 miles from the property, and there’s a shuttle bus service every 20 minutes to take you directly to and from the slopes. This shuttle service starts early in the morning, so you can take advantage of the fresh powder, and runs until 10:00 pm during ski season. You’ll love spending time at Winter Park’s newly renovated ski base, which now has many more shops, fine eateries, and even a Starbucks! There are also numerous shops, pubs, and excellent restaurants within easy walking distance from the condo, so you won’t have to venture far to indulge in a delectable meal. Cooper Square outdoor shopping center in downtown Winter Park is within walking distance as well. If you need a break from the ski slopes, be sure to check out the winter tubing hill in Fraser only 2 miles away on State 40, or rent a snowmobile for the day in the area. During the warmer months, Winter Park’s hiking and biking trails become significant attractions, as well as trout fishing on the Fraser River, which is conveniently right in front of the building! You’ll also find exceptional fishing on the Colorado River and a great catch-and-release spot just north of the condo, about a 10-minute walk away. If you’re in the mood for adventure, spend a day exploring the groomed walking and extensive biking trails near the condo, or drive 40 minutes to access the south entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. The town of Grand Lake can be reached in just 25 minutes, as well as Shadow Mountain Lake and Lake Granby. Golf enthusiasts should definitely play a round over at Pole Creek Golf Course located 15 minutes away, or at one of the other area golf courses within 30 minutes of the condo. For entertainment, a new movie theatre and bowling alley can be reached in a short walk. Be sure to check the Winter Park Channel for the many festivals in and around town - you never know what might be happening during your trip!
Approximately 40 minutes north is the Hot Sulphur Springs Spa, located at the entrance of Byers Canyon in Hot Sulphur Springs. This facility is open year-round and is highly recommended (call resort for daily pricing)! If you need a getaway from your getaway, try a short jaunt over to Glenwood Springs via Amtrak train - the terminal is located only 2 miles to the north in Fraser. This area is noted for its phenomenal cross country skiing and horseback riding, and sleigh rides are available at Snow Mountain Ranch just 15 minutes away, where you can choose between wagon, sleigh, or carriage rides. Another notable attraction is the Grand Park Community Recreation Center, which is located approximately 0.75 miles from the condo on the west side of U.S. 40 between Winter Park and Fraser and is complete with a lap pool, water slide, climbing wall, gymnasium and work out room. This is a state-of-the-art facility, and is highly recommended after a long day on the slopes.
