Truly superb family break away to chill out and relax and see the sites of Devon from a fantastic location with top star accommodation. There was Everything to hand at Woodpecker Barn that a family of 5 could possibly need , warm and cosy rooms, fully kitted out kitchen and bathrooms, made it an easy and relaxed family January Vacation. The facilities of the well equipped games room and lovely warm swimming pool made it extra special for our 3 young children. Throughly would recommend.

Woodpecker Barn is a wonderful spacious barn which comfortably housed my wife and I, our 3 children and my mother. THE BARN Having travelled to other holiday homes previously, the first thing that struck us was how clean the property was upon arrival. Having ironed sheets and what felt like new bedding - both memory foam pillows and traditional ones - was a real treat. Even the oven, grill pan and baking trays were clean. Sparkling clean bathrooms and lots of fresh towels - very welcoming. The barn has a really well-stocked modern kitchen. I didn't expect to have a quality garlic crusher or excellent peeler, but it seemed to have whatever we needed. Oven and grill, fridge freezer and dishwasher all felt new-ish and worked perfectly. Showers were good, easy to wash kids at the end of the day. Shaver socket and glass stand for toothbrush, minor things but very useful. The dining element of the kitchen was good and comfortably sat us all, with a baby seat available if needed. The lounge was comfy and leads nicely into a garden with outdoor table, chairs and parasol. Beyond your garden boundary is rolling countryside and fields of sheep. It's such a gorgeous view, very hard to leave. To the side is a hose and outdoor tap, which we used to hose down sandy items after the beach. Upstairs the rooms are spaced out and perfectly proportioned. 2x double rooms with king size beds and one large room with 3x single beds, ideal for our 3 kids. The kids room had low windows but they didn't open fully, so no worries for parents. 2x modern showers upstairs and a bath tub. 3x toilets in total, 2 upstairs and 1 downstairs. Smart TVs in all rooms, so useful for Netflix, Amazon, Disney etc. LOCATION This is a really remote spot, right in the middle of the Devonshire countryside. After leaving the A381, the 1 mile road to access Woodpecker Barn is very narrow, so it did take a bit of getting used to. That said, the Ocado delivery driver managed just fine. The site has (I believe) 9 properties in total, and Woodpecker Barn is right at the end of a 50/60 metre path, bordering open countryside. The amenities onsite are an outdoor children's playground, a decent sized swimmingly pool (almost 12m long, 1.25m depth and 30°C) and a games room with air hockey, table tennis, pool table, table football and kiddies playhouse. All onsite facilities are clearly well looked after. We were looking for sandy beaches for our kids and the nicest we found was Bantham Beach, which was 21 miles from Woodpecker Barn. OVERALL Spacious and clean property with a well-stocked kitchen, lovely location set in rolling countryside, good onsite facilities, only slightly let down by the really narrow access to and from the barn. We enjoyed it very much and our kids were still talking about their great holiday for months afterwards….. especially the daily chats with sheep 😊

Could not have had a better family stay at this delightful property which was spacious, clean and fully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The on-site amenities - indoor heated pool, large playroom with young children play things, table tennis, pool table, etc. and a large community garden, provided hours of fun for everybody. We had a fantastic time at the cottage lots of room there was 6 of us , we had Tesco deliver whilst we stayed to keep us going for the week nice big fridge and freezer he found us no bother , directions to the property were spot on too , hosts were great , such a beautiful location , would defiantly come back when visiting family in Devon . Local pub was great lovely food only downside was don’t start serving till 630 pm , thanks Naomi and glenn

We stayed at Woodpecker Barn in July 2017, as a couple with our baby and toddler, my parents-in-law and our 9 year old niece. This place had everything. We walked in the door to a definite wow factor, the barn was spacious and immaculately clean, with every facility we could have needed. Beds were so comfortable, bathrooms modern and spotless, and most importantly smart tv so we could access all the CBeebies the kids wanted! :-) We didn't need to bring any toys or games, the barn had everything. We had several rainy days, despite the time of year, but the kids were kept entertained in the games room and had no complaints. They also used the play area outside every day. Most important was the swimming pool: the kids loved it as it was so warm in there and even had some pool toys! Although it's a shared pool and we used it at various times of the day we only ever had to share it once. It's so big that sharing wasn't a problem anyway. On our last night my husband and I could've cried with how little we wanted to leave, and especially the views. Photos could not do justice to the spectacular views. The sound of sheep in the nearby fields (and the kids loved having sheep in the field at the bottom of the garden!). I could ramble forever, it was just so perfect. We have already recommended Woodpecker Barn to everyone and we are certain we'll be back.

Woodpecker Barn was a fabulous place to stay. Set in lovely countryside and with everything you could need. We were a party of 6 mixed age adults and a two year old and found the accommodation spacious, well decorated with comfortable furnishings, well stocked kitchen, with dishwasher and washing machine and secure garden with lovely views across farm land. Great to have a downstairs toilet, a bedroom with ensuite plus a family bathroom. Swimming pool, play area and games room on site, so there never needs to be a dull moment, even if the weather is not great. It's obvious a lot of time and effort has gone in to ensuring every detail has been considered to make the holiday run smoothly. Great information pack and directions too. Lots to do in this lovely part of Devon, for all the family. Would love to go again.

We visited Woodpecker Barn in mid-late June and had a wonderful time. Our group comprised of my wife and I, my mother-in-law and my 4yr old daughter and 2 yr old son. The property was presented beautifully and extremely spacious for 5 people. The location is idyllic with great views of the countryside from the back garden. The children loved the indoor swimming pool and the adjoining play area, which were once again immaculate. We found somewhere different to visit each day and always no more than 30 minutes away in the car. We would not hesitate to recommend Woodpecker Barn to friends and family and hope to visit again one day!

Our family stayed here for 5 days at the beginning of May and this included one 3 year old. The accommodation suited us perfectly and the barn is very well equipped from kitchen equipment to toys and dvds for children. The enclosed garden adjoining fields of sheep with their baby lambs was lovely as we were able to sit outside and the 3 year to play outside knowing that she was safe. The swimming pool was excellent as was the games/play room and the outside play equipment. The owner was most helpful and the barn was very well kept, decorated and very clean. Keith and Carol Reast

The barn set in a perfect location away from traffic noise with beautiful views from the lounge.The kitchen was spacious with complimentary tea/coffee/sugar/milk and biscuits for us when we arrived. There is plenty of crockery and utensils and you will find everything you need. The lounge has a vast variety of dvd's toys games and books and a lovely wood burner which we made good use of, with plenty of room for us 6 adults and our 20 month old granddaughter All the bedrooms had plenty of storage, the bedding and towels were immaculate and rooms were decorated lovely.The swimming pool are was kept clean as were the changing rooms and we made use of the playroom a couple of times too. We would not hesitate in returning to this lovely homely barn.
