Like a great song that stays in your mind, the cottage in Shaw, MS draws you back. The views out of the antique windows are all dreamy and the inside of the cottage is just what I love. Leather chairs, comfy linens, and decor that is relaxing and chic. One could be in the countryside of Europe, but you're in the land of Faulkner and Welty. Lars was generous with his time and showed our family the verdant fields and wonderful old buildings being revamped for new use. I can't forget the pool and the tennis court, both of which we enjoyed. Can't wait to return.

Stacy and Terrance were wonderful guests. It was a pleasure showing them around the farm and spending time visiting with them. I always appreciate guests who are enthusiastic about the farm and very much look forward to a return visit from them!

Absolute gem
We stayed here as a break on the road from Memphis to New Orleans. The cottage was an absolute gem - sitting out on porch whilst the sun went down was a special memory. Lars was a great host - gave a tour of his farm on our first night. Highly recommend this charming cottage.

Perfect night in the Delta
The cabin is charming, clean, stocked with good books, open yet private. At night the grounds are so dark, so quiet, so peaceful. Incredible sky to be seen. Calm and calming. Our host, Lars, was friendly and drove us around the plantation, introduced us to friends, showing us the Delta in a way we would not otherwise have seen it. One night was not enough, I need to go back.

Peace and Tranquility at its Delta Best!
Where do I start?! We loved everything about our stay in Peacock Cottage! Early on check-in day, we messaged with our host, Lars, to let him know of our travel time.
Upon our arrival, The homeowner and his four-legged buddy Finn greeted us just as we parked our car, and welcomed us into the perfectly charming cottage. Peacock Cottage is warm and inviting with all of the niceties and comforts of home. Every corner was spotlessly clean, including the many windows with lovely views of the surrounding property. The cottage provides two full-size (double) beds with comfortable bedding and pillows and a nice full bath with luxurious Pottery Barn towels. Two comfy leather chairs create a cozy sitting area near the flat screen television (satellite programming). There is a beautiful Woolwich throw for anyone needing a little extra warmth. We particularly enjoyed the selection of books available (best sellers, classics), as well as the games (Scrabble, Dominoes, playing cards). The walls of Peacock Cottage are covered with an eclectic collection of beautiful artwork. The small, adorable kitchen is functional and provides an all-in-one two-burner stove, mini sink and fridge. Having brought food/grocery items with us, this was completely adequate for our stay. We loved being able to enjoy our meals at Peacock Cottage rather than going out for every meal as necessary with most hotel stays. A tennis court and swimming pool are available for cottage guest use.
The greatest challenge during our stay at Peacock Cottage was deciding which porch to occupy! The deeply shaded screened porch (western facing) offers comfortable seating with a whirring ceiling fan. Perfect for enjoying a book or catching a few zzzz’s! The other porch (eastern facing) with a glider and spring/rocker chairs is open and overlooks the cottage’s small fenced yard and, beyond, a tranquil field and tree line. We enjoyed watching the sun brighten the sky in the mornings and horses graze lazily during the afternoons. The melodies of songbirds and the buzz of cicadas (or “dry flies” if you are Southern!) with the comforts of this unique cottage are guaranteed to lull you into a state of complete idyllic relaxation! This is a definite “must return” location!

Perfect stay in exceptional cottage
Our stay in The Peacock Cottage couldn't have been better. The cottage was exactly as advertised, only even better-looking in reality than on the photo's. Can't say enough nice things about the lay-out, design and completeness of the amenities. Swimming pool was great (we were there in a 'cool spell' which was still pretty hot!), and we shot some hoops in the basket on the tennis court. The highlight of our stay (and indeed one of the best things of our whole trip) was the tour that proprietor John was kind enough to give us. We learned a lot about the property that John's grandfather bought during the Depression and that has now been farmed by three generations of the same family. Several original buildings are still in good shape and John has very exciting plans to put them to good use!
We definitely recommend staying in the Peacock Cottage!

Peaceful
My friend has already commented on our stay at this quaint little cottage, but I wanted to say a couple of things as well.
When we arrived we were greeted by Lars the property owner. He showed us the cabin and answered any questions we had. A very nice man. I can't express enough how much I enjoyed being there. Peace and quiet...you heard no vehicles. Nobody to bother you...we did get occasional visits by the property owners dogs while we were floating in the pool. They came to make sure we were ok. We enjoyed there short lived visits. If you're looking for a quiet relaxing get away...I would recommend this place. This was just a quick girls getaway and we had a blast. We're trying to find a weekend we can go back before it gets cold. We brought food to cook since the cottage has a grill. No oven, but they do have a microwave. We cooked our food on the grill and back to the pool. We loved it!!!

Wonderful!
Very Peaceful, Serene and relaxing Girl Getaway! Great place when you need a break from the stresses of everyday life. Lock the world away and allow Time to stand still here. Great way to spend the lady just longing in the pool on our floats we brought. Was able to grill soem chicken and potatoes for supper; then just sit out on the porch with a few glasses of sangria afterwards. What a treat to be able to stop & listen to all the nightlife sounds unfold. Coffee on the porch watching the sunrise and dipping in the pool before it was time to pack up and make our trek back home. Such an enjoyable way to spend a weekend. We will be back!!!

Absolutely fantastic
Having been to Nashville, Memphis and Clarksdale this was the perfect place to spend a few days relaxing before heading down to New Orleans.
We loved it from the moment we saw it and knew that we'd made a great choice. My first time sitting on the porch looking out over the meadow I said to my girlfriend,
"You know who I feel like?"
"No, who?"
"Michael Landon".
I cannot state enough how peaceful and beautiful this place is.
The owners, and not forgetting Penda, are three of the finest people I have ever met. You made a great stay even better and it was an absolute pleasure to meet you both, thank you for everything.
If you want/need a few days of complete relaxation (or even if you don't) I cannot recommend this place enough.

About the neighbourhood
Our cottage is located on our family farm that has been in our family for 4 generations. It is a unique farm for the Delta, in that we have preserved a lot of the woodland, and we no-till farm. The original name of the farm is Peacock Plantation, or the Old Peacock Place, and has often been called the "the prettiest place in the delta". We are also centrally located in regards to the Blues Trail, and to the Delta in general. We are perfectly located for a home base from which to explore the Delta, and an ideal location for hunting trip to the Delta.
Getting around
There is an Amtrak station in Greenwood, which is 45min away, and I can provide transportation to and from, with plenty of notification. The nearest international airports are in Memphis, Tn, 2hrs north, and Jackson, ms. 2 hours south. There is a regional airport in Greenville ms. 30 min away.
