This was our second stay at a Trout House Falls cottage, first time at the Riverfront cottage. We found the cottage clean, pleasant, and very comfortable. The river, while across the street, provides a beautifully peaceful view and sound. It was the perfect place for my wife and me to get away and unwind. The cottage has two bedrooms downstairs and a spacious bathroom with a large oversized shower. Plenty of towels and wash cloths are always available. The laundry facilities are also downstairs. We found the kitchen well equipped. We frequently either picked up meals from restaurants or food to prepare ourselves so that we could enjoy more time at the cottage! We previously stayed at the waterfall cottage and found it too a delightful stay. We will return. The size is about perfect for two to four people.

Amazing, well appointed cabin on the East Fork. Steps away from one of the prettier trout rivers in the area. Great attention to detail inside and out of cabin. Went to bed and woke up to sound of rushing water. Picture perfect views from every room but the screened in porch and fireplace were especially memorable. Thanks JS!

The house had everything you need for a comfortable stay on the East Fork of the French Broad River. Very modern kitchen. The best part was sitting around with the family in the screened in porch with a fire going listing to the river.

This is our third year at the Riverfront Cottage. My husband lives the easy access to the top class trout fishing just across the road. I can be on the screened porch and warch him fish while I paint at my easel. Heaven! Evenings are spent at Brevard Music Center for world class concerts. For us, a perfect vacation blending culture and our favorite hobbies. Owner Jim Sloan is the best, always calling on arrival day to check on us. The furnishings are top notch and the house is always immaculate and well maintained. The road runs just in front but traffic is low and not a problem.

This cottage is decorated beautifully! We really enjoyed the screened porch with fireplace. It overlooks the river. The bedrooms are downstairs and if you leave windows open you can hear the river:) The owners are amazing to work with and very responsive. It is a special place! We enjoyed a waterfall tour with a guide that Jim recommended and even went to the Brevard music festival one night.

Booked for my husband's 40th birthday. We brought our 4 year old daughter and his sister brought her 5 and 8 year old daughters. Weather was cool for August (60's) and we had a cozy fire in the fireplace, which had kindling and wood ready to go (awesome touch!). Hubby fly fished right out front in the gurgling river, while I read about 3 "beach novels" laying on the screened porch in front of the fire, occasionally the sound of the river lulling me into a deep nap. We booked a young-children-friendly waterfall tour with Craig Miller, he came to the cottage and we drove around to waterfalls which are not "on the map" and which at the most, required a mile hike up and down a mountain trail (and so worth it). You will need room enough in your car to drive him around so he can give you some good history of the area, including a view of the Continental Divide, where a river runs both ways. You've got to see it to believe it and it's amazing. Great kitchen, stocked with lots of spices and dishes and the grill is fantastic. Just remember to turn the gas on the left side before trying to light it. We traveled 6 hours to get here and stayed several nights, long drive but it was so worth it. Also, if you are a beer drinker, go into Brevard to the Brewery and get yourself a growler or two, interesting artwork and some books, games, local newspapers. We are looking to buy a place up there and will come back to stay at the cottage while we search to buy (or build) something comparable. One more thing, there is a road that runs in between the cottage and the river but it is really a non-issue. It doesn't impede the view or the sound of the river and the hillside.

First-time FlyFisher -:- Winston-Salem, NC
We rented the Riverfront Fishing Cottage which has been beautifully remodeled with high-end stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops (including the outdoor grill). The screened porch with the stone fireplace was our favorite spot listening to the river rushing by below. Only recommendation from updates: a/c downstairs. The river across the street below the cottage has trout and is a great spot for beginners learning how to fly fish.

This is a wonderful place to stay in the area near Brevard. Much thought and attention to detail is evident when you step inside the cottage, which is tastefully decorated and has a nicely applianced kitchen. The fishing theme is reflected throughout the home, but in a lovely upscale way, not at all cute, country or kitschy. The décor is stylish and comfortable; and the bathroom is what you would expect in a high-end home, not a weekend rental. The weather was beautiful during our stay and we practically lived on the deck and the screened porch...both great places for morning coffee and afternoon wine. The river is just across the road from the cottage and its sound was sweet music on the decks and porch. The road was closer than it appeared from the photos, but was not a problem as the traffic was minimal. There were many nice pools and riffles in the stream, but unfortunately the fish were too smart for us in August. Brevard is a short drive away and has good markets and restaurants. Jim and his wife are charming and quite helpful. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends. This cottage is perfect for the more selective traveler.

Our family has just enjoyed a wonderful weekend at the Riverfront Cottage. Our children enjoyed fishing on the stream in front of the cabin. At night the sound of the river was wonderful as we relaxed on the screened porch and as we slept. We went on a tube ride down the French Broad River and enjoyed wonderful hotdogs and sundaes at Rocky's in Brevard. We had a fun trip to Pisgah forest, although it was a bit crowded on Saturday. All of these activities were wonderful, but we were always anxious to return to the serenity of the Riverfront Cottage.
