My wife and I used Naworth as a "home base" for our exploration of the area, and were perfectly happy with our stay. Extremely comfortable, well thought out, and spotless. I hope we can return next summer. Very helpful and friendly owners.

Just returned from 4 nights at Naworth. Highly recommended for accomodation in Alston, everything in the village close by and a very well furnished property where the owner supplies all the necessities needed along with tips on places to visit.. Beautiful house and well cared.

Naworth has a well equipped kitchen/breakfast room, and the family bathroom and one twin bedroom are also located on the ground floor, with an open plan living /dining area and a king size bedroom upstairs. Artists materials are available to hire for a small extra charge and binocular hire is available on payment of a refundable security deposit.

Places within approximately half to one hour's drive: Hadrian's Wall, Lanercost, Hexham Abbey, Blanchland, Durham cathedral, castle and historic centre, Beamish, Hamsterley Forest, Raby Castle, The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, High Force, Richmond and Swaledale, Penrith and Ullswater, Keswick, Carlisle, Kielder Forest, Scottish borders. Local events: Alston sheepdog trials and Gala day in June, Alston agricultural show in September, Garrigill bonfire night in November and Christmas craft fair first weekend in December.
How to get there
The nearest international airport is Newcastle (approx. 1 hour's drive) where you can easily hire a car. Travelling by train, there are bus connections from Carlisle or we may be able to meet you from Penrith, Hexham or Darlington stations. Travelling by car: 35minutes from Penrith (A686), 45 minutes from Carlisle( A689), approximately an hour from Newcastle upon Tyne and from Scotch Corner (via A66 and B6277)
