Fisherground Lodges offer self catering accommodation in the heart of Eskdale, one of the most beautiful valleys in the Lake District. With a large sunny outdoor area and fantastic views of the surrounding fells, Fisherground is an ideal base for exploring the awesome mountains, rivers and lakes in the area. Fisherground is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk, with tumbling waterfalls and magnificent clear pools to swim in. There are five good pubs in the Eskdale Valley, the King George is just a few minutes walk away, all serve good food and ales and welcome children and dogs. Eskdale is one of the quieter valleys in the lakes with a gentle pace of life. Fisherground is special, what is it about the place? Is it the feeling of being at one with nature, with sheep in the fields, buzzards in the sky, and herons on the stream running through the orchard? The sound of the woodpecker in the woods next door? The way children can just go out to play in the orchard and the shallow water of the pond? The Games room where you can re-discover your zest for life with a game of Table Tennis or Pool? The ease of walking the dog, with all that space around? The miniature railway, the famous 'Ratty', whose steam engines trundle along just a field away? Maybe just the stunning scenery? Agressive owner/dog - Warning do not stay here

hard to get too, but similar to most places in Cumbria. nothing special in the lodge - had it booked for a week which was too long. parking is a big issue on site so would recommended fining a place to park then not moving...More
