About the neighbourhood
The village of Tideswell stands in the heart of the Peak District National Park and is one of the oldest settlements in the central Peak District. There is excellent walking and outdoor pursuits including climbing and cycling on the newly opened Monsal Trail with rugged peaks to the north, gentle hills and dales to the south and Millers Dale just outside the village. Mam Tor, Castleton, Chatsworth and Bakewell are only a few miles away and the popular spa town of Buxton is within a 15 minute drive. Tideswell also has many fine country inns and excellent restaurants, a chemist, butchers, co-op, greengrocers, bakers and much more.
Getting around
There is a limited bus service and trains from other villages (around 10 / 15 mins drive from Tideswell) to major cities such as Sheffield and Manchester. A car is recommended and we have private parking for two small cars at the rear which is a bonus as parking in the village can be quite tight. There are loads of lovely walks you can do from the house - no need to get the car out. We are very well placed to get to the village centre - a couple of minutes walk from the house.
