We were lucky to rent this lovely little cottage over a sunny weekend in March. We are regular visitors to Brixham and know the area well. The location of this property is perfect, central to the whole town. Attention to detail in the premises is clear, there was nothing more we could have asked for. Super comfortable beds and quality bed linen, piping hot power shower, modern and spacious kitchen and perfect views of the harbour from the bedrooms. The only warning would be to less able residents that the cottage stairs are steep, narrow and twisty, but there are ample rails to help with that. We, and our bulldogs, would return in a heartbeat. Property owners are helpful and friendly and communication was perfect. 5 stars.

We have just returned from a lovely week in Tradewinds Cottage. The cottage was lovely and clean with quality towels and bedding. I had a small issue whilst there which was very quickly and easily resolved with Jo. The cottage is in a great location, we bought a permit and parked in Oxen Cove Carpark, you do need to get there fairly early for a space though. The restaurants which we visited were all good, especially the fresh fish. Boat trips to Torquay and Dartmouth are good as is a morning mackerel fishing. We love Brixham and I'm sure we'll be back and would definitely book Tradewinds Cottage again. Thank you Jo.

Our first visit to Brixham and not our last. Trade Winds Cottage is comfortable and has everything you need as a home from home. Main bedroom is lovely with a really comfortable king sized bed. Both me and my husband suffer with back issues so always a concern when we travel. Situated over four floors, the stairs can be challenging as quite steep but as expected in a property of this age. Cottage has been renovated sympathetically to maintain character whilst providing comfort and a quirky style. The location is perfect, with wonderful views and two minutes walk from the harbour. Fresh milk, tea and coffee plus fresh scones, jam and clotted cream welcomed us on arrival. Thanks Jo! Brixham itself was lovely, some great walking to be had. We walked to Berry Head which has amazing views across Lyme Bay. The Covid situation was handled well by all restaurants and shops but recommend you book in advance if you want to eat somewhere particular as they are often fully booked for up to 5 days. We were very lucky with the weather and spent a couple of afternoons on the beach and swimming at Shoalstone beach. We didn’t have time to do everything we wanted to so will be back and our accommodation of choice will definitely be Trade Winds. All in all a great few days away. Highly recommend Trade Winds Cottage and a visit to Brixham itself.

So I must be honest although I had booked Tradewinds, we didn't get to stay there because of my stupidity in booking wrong weekend. I only realized 3 days before we were due to stay...we were all very disappointed. I contacted Jo to let her know. She very kindly re let the cottage and gave me most of my money back which was so utterly generous of her. I cannot wait to have the opportunity to book Tradewinds again..especially going and checking its location whilst we were there. It was so disappointing that I had booked the wrong days, but so look forward to booking again... and thankyou Jo for being so fair

We really loved our week in Devon staying so close to the harbour. The views from the bedrooms are fantastic and the cottage has everything you need. Lovely comfy beds too. Lots of walks to gorgeous little coves on your doorstep. Perfect.

I dont really want to review this as I want to keep it a secret. By reviewing I fear I wont be able to get in here again! But I owe to the owners to do so. Close your eyes and think of a typical quaint fisherman's cottage and you have Trade Winds Cottage. The cottage is in a fantastic location with wonderful bedroom views over the harbour. The owners have gone out of their way to provide a beautiful experience. They have thought of everything. Even water bottles in the bedrooms and scones on arrival. I will certainly be back next year. 10/10

About the neighbourhood
Brixham is rapidly embracing fine cuisine and cafe culture, you will find many places to sit and enjoy the harbour views and relax into a slower pace of life. As Brixham is a fishing port many of the town's restaurants specialise in fresh fish and you can regularly find the 'catch of the day' being served. Also, the South West Coastal Path is close to the property, with many other fine local walking areas. The area has a host of attractions; restaurants, cafes, cinema, beautiful golden sands and the popular Paignton Zoo that will keep the whole family entertained. The property is also perfectly positioned to take the steam train to Kingswear, ferry to Dartmouth, visit Dartmoor and the many national trust properties that Devon has to offer.
Getting around
There are ferries that leave from Brixham harbour that visit a range of places such as Paignton, Torquay, Dartmouth and Teignmouth. The number 12 bus runs between Brixham and Newton Abbot stopping at a wide range of the beaches in Torbay. There are a few beaches within walking distance of Trade Winds. Oxen cove car park is 5 minutes walk from the cottage.
