A bit apprehensive after reading the last review. However my wife the kids and I had a wonderful stay in this beautiful flat. The previous reviews are far more accurate. Very clean, warm and comfortable with great WiFi and private parking a bonus. Perfect for exploring the East Neuk and further afield. Will definitely return

Property needs a massive deep clean. Stained mattresses, grubby & stained duvets. Mattress that appeared to be larger than base.Greasy oven trays covered up by aluminium foil. White mugs that were grey inside.Teapot with crack at handle. Spatula that halved in two while lifting hot food(it had been held together by inserting piece of paper). Lid of toilet seat was cracked & broke completely when we tried to remove it to clean dirty seat. Carpets in bedrooms & lounge covered in stains. Some of the radiators have an accumulation of dust that resembles fur. Overall an investment needs to be made to bring this apartment up to an acceptable standard to meet a clean & healthy environment. Dismal communal entrance area. So bad we cut holiday short. Cannot understand previous glowing reviews.Cost of weekly rental for this apartment way overpriced.

Thank you for your comments. You first contacted us on the fourth day of your stay (to advise that the toilet seat had broken on the day of arrival) and highlighted some concerns. You advised that the toilet lid had broken but there was no mention of it being due to you trying to clean it as you state above- the areas you described as needing cleaned was under the fixings which was only accessible/noted when the seat was removed due to being broken. You were concerned that you would be charged for the broken seat (which we discussed and assured you would not be the case). However, your concern that you would incur costs then led you to compile a list of perceived faults. We advised that there are new carpets to be fitted following the recent replacement of doors throughout the property. We acknowledged your remarks on other items and offered to take action where appropriate but you were adamant that you did not want us to provide a replacement spatula or teapot or supply new pillows etc. whilst you were there. Many of the items you list above were not mentioned during our lengthy discussion. It is unfortunate that your dissatisfaction of not being offered the level of refund you request is to leave multiple reviews which we believe are insincere- we do not believe that if the accommodation was of the standard you imply above that you would have waited four days to raise concerns.

Firstly the appointed letting agent (Pittinween Properties) were not responsible for the numerous issues regarding this apartment. I believe the owner stayed in the place before we arrived but he let it out without the knowledge of the agent. The condition of the mattresses and the bedding was disgusting, the oven was a disgrace & the oven trays need to be thrown out. Owner is a disgrace.

A small group of us stayed in this appt for two very relaxing nights. The appt was very clean, with everything you want for a short break. It is very centrally located but two minutes off the cove so very peaceful. Also has free parking which was useful.

The apartment was lovely, clean and spacious with all the amenities we needed for our stay in Anstruther,it also had a lovely sea view. We would definitely go back again and highly recommend it to anyone.

I stayed at Calabeinn with my husband and two children ages 7 and 11. We had a fantastic stay here. The flat is lovely decorated,clean and spacious. The beds are extremely comfortable.The free wifi was excellent. The private parking is an added bonus so near the harbour. We will definitely return and have already recommended this accommodation to family and friends.

Little Cove accommodation was excellent. Didn’t feel like a holiday let felt more like a home from home. Furniture, accessories, modern kitchen, etc., lovely. Definitely returning for longer than our two night stay.

We had a great time in this spaceous, stylish, two-bedroom apartment, Anstruther a pretty small resort and close to St Andrews. The apartment is very well equipped and very clean. The booking process was simple. Our only reservation was in relation to my elderly mother. The apartment does not claim to have (nor did we need) wheelchair access but there were around 7 steps (external & internal) which were just about manageable by my mother (with a stick). We hadn't realised the flat was near the top of a fairly steep street and we assumed ground floor meant no steps. Our presumption: not falsely described! My elderly mother loved the flat but thought I'd mention the potential problems for future elderly guests with poor mobility. If mobility is not an issue, you'll love the flat.

You're correct in saying that there are a few steps into the property; there are 2/3 steps into the building and then 4 or so steps to the apartment door so whilst it is a ground floor apartment it is important for guests who may have mobility issues to know that there are a few steps to negotiate. We're glad it didn't pose too much of an issue for you or spoil your stay in the lovely East Neuk and hope we can welcome you again!

Excellent flat. Very comfortable and spotless. Located very near Anstruther Harbour. A big plus is the parking at rear of the flat. My elderly father was with us and we had no problems at all with the flat and with walking to the shops, harbour and restaurants. We hope to revisit in the future.

About the neighbourhood
The East Neuk is a string of fishing villages connected by the coastal path. A long time favourite with families, keen walkers and golfers it offers something for everyone. The laid back lifestyle and gentle pace of life makes it a super choice for a relaxing and quiet stay by the sea. There is a range of cafes, bistros, bars, restaurants and fine dining restaurants throughout the East Neuk. The area and many of its facilities and visitor attractions are dog friendly. There is a vibrant arts community with festivals and pop up galleries as well as a lively music scene. Local producers are stocked and celebrated by independent and artisan shops and local farmer and food & drinks markets.
Getting around
There is an hourly bus service in both directions. There are well maintained footpaths, the coastal path and some multi use paths in the area. A car is not necessary but is advised for those wishing to explore further afield
