Balnain cottage has a private Lochan and enjoys fabulous views from every room and is set in well maintained, landscaped gardens which are a key feature of the property. A variety of peaceful seating areas are dotted around the garden to allow guests to enjoy the wealth of interesting views. A small sheltered seating area overlooks a unique lochan which is a focal feature within the private enclosed garden. There are a wide variety of activities and places of interest within a short drive, including the spectacular Rogie Falls, the charming Victorian spa town of Strathpeffer and the picturesque fishing town of Ullapool. There are many wonderful walks and cycle tracks, and for the more adventurous, Ben Wyvis one of the easier Munros to climb, is a 5 minute drive away. The market town of Dingwall is also close by and next door to the cottage is Tarvie Fishing Lochs which offers 3 natural fishing lochs. The gardens attract a wide variety of wildlife including deer, pine martins, pheasant, partridge, duck, otters and the birdtables around the cottage draw a range of birds. Ground floor: Living room with wooden floor. Dining room with wooden floor .Kitchen/diner with tiled floor, wide range of well stocked unit, washing machine, dishwasher, cooker and microwave. Small study/cloackroom. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet. The cottage comfortable sleeps 4 in bothe bedrooms, but can accomodate upto 6 but you would have to use the the sofa bed in the lounge as a double. Shops 3 miles. Pub 5 miles. Open fire in living room (initial fuel inc). Oil CH, elec, bed linen and towels inc. T/cot. H/chair. Satellite TV. DVD/CD. Elec cooker. M/wave. W/machine. D/washer. F/freezer. Large enclosed 1-acre landscaped garden with patio and furniture. BBQ. Parking (3 cars). No smoking. Sunday to Sunday. NB: Lochan in garden. Previously rented through cottages4you and here are some previous guest comments:- 1st comment: Great cottage, fantastic gardens, good location. Aug 2012. 2nd comment: We had a wonderful holiday. The wildlife in the grounds was superb, we were so happy to see a Pine Marten for the first time and we were able to video it from the kitchen window. Fabulous location and scenery. Loved every minute of our holiday and the weather was really good to us. May 2012. 3rd comment: The cottage was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already re booked for next year. We spent a week at Balnain and had a wonderful time. Loved the outside space during the day - quiet but full of wildlife. And everything you need in the cottage for a warm and relaxing evening. Look forward to a return visit sometime soon.

The Cottage is located in Tarvie which is 5 Miles From the Victorian Spa Town of Strathpeffer. Strathpeffer lies in a glen 5 miles west of Dingwall, with varying elevation from 200 to 400 feet above sea level. Because of its location in the heart of the Highlands, Strathpeffer has remained a popular visitor attraction and a good base for touring the Highlands. Many walks and activities in the surrounding area. There is also a very scenic golf course, which boasts the longest drop from tee to green of any course in Britain.In the Victorian era Strathpeffer was popular as a spa resort, owing to the discovery of sulphurous springs in the 18th century. Getting around
Car is essential but there is also the very scenic north highland railway line which runs near the cottage. Garve station is 3 miles away. The cottage is very conveniently located to explore both East and West Highlands north of Inverness basing yourself in the cottage.
